Securing low scores or low rank should not be considered as the end of the world. Failure is the stepping stone of success. Students should not lose hope if their score are below their expectations. Keep trying hard until goals are reached.

COMEDK UGET is an entrance examination is important for many students who are waiting for admissions in various colleges in Karnataka state. Students with less low scores need not worry as there are chances of choosing other courses like Bachelor’s degree, getting admission in other private institutions or in deemed universities, writing other entrance examinations like JEE Main, WBJEE, BITSAT and so on.

Whether to drop a year or not?

Most of the aspirants are often confused about whether to drop a year or not as they could not get admission in their desired college. Not every student would agree with dropping a year. In my opinion, this completely depends on the choice and priorities of a student. If a student is passionate about preferred specific engineering college and are willing to study again then they could think of dropping a year. In order to be successful in the decision, the student has to keep their spirits up till the end; which seems a little difficult for many students. So, decide wisely as your entire future depends on this.

In case a student is not satisfied but still does not want to waste a year, they have an option of exploring other colleges and try to attend all the counselling sessions.

Best colleges one can get with a low score.

With low scores it might be difficult to get admission in best colleges; however, if a student takes admission through management quota, they could get into best colleges. There are instances when the cut-offs of many colleges are not so high; this would give students an opportunity to get admission in the best college even if they themselves are not satisfied with their scores. There is another option of deemed universities; some deemed universities do not give preference to score. Also, some of the institutions give admissions basis the board examination scores and some private universities conduct separate examination for their institute. Good command over the subject also helps in getting admissions in best private colleges and universities like KL University, SRM, SAVITA, Chandigarh University, Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science.

Should one wait for subsequent counselling sessions?

Waiting for subsequent counselling sessions is also good when the score is less as sometimes it might give the student a chance to get admissions in best colleges. Students with a high score might leave opportunity for seeking admission in other institutions like IIT, IIIT and NIT. Try to utilize this opportunity by attending counselling sessions.

Should one opt to attempt the exam again?

Yes, surely a student could attempt COMEDK again if they are satisfied with their preparation. Most of the students fail due to similar mistakes, nervousness, tension, overconfidence, etc. Students should work towards overcoming the mistakes and reasons and reattempt the examination. They should be thorough with syllabus, subjects, revision and mock tests in order to attempt the examination again. While attempting second time try to avoid repeating the mistakes. Also, practice harder this time and improve by writing mock tests, and revising each topic thoroughly before the examination. Therefore, try to make the most of this opportunity.
