The exam is conducted for admission to the second year (third semester) of Bachelor Degree courses in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy except for Architecture in various BTech colleges of West Bengal. The eligibility criteria differ from one stream to another. Students who wish to appear for the WBJEE JELET exam must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates should have passed BSc or diploma in Engineering/Pharmacy/Technology with at least 45% aggregate (40% for reserved category) or equivalent CGPA from a recognised institute or university
- Candidates must have passed Class 12 with mathematics as a subject

- The candidate must be a citizen of India
