MAH HM CET vs NCHMCT JEE: Which Course is Better?

This is an important difference between the two routes.

B.HMCT through MAH HM CET

B.HMCT stands for Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology. It is a specialised undergraduate programme focused on hotel management and catering technology. Students can develop knowledge and skills in areas such as:

  • Food production
  • Food and beverage service
  • Front office
  • Housekeeping
  • Hotel operations
  • Hospitality management

B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration through NCHMCT JEE

NCHMCT's undergraduate route is the B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration. The programme is designed around hospitality and hotel administration and can prepare students for careers across different areas of the hospitality industry.

Which Course Should I Choose?

There is no universal winner.

  • Choose B.HMCT if you specifically prefer the Maharashtra B.HMCT route and want to study at a participating Maharashtra institute.
  • Choose B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration if you want the NCHMCT route and prefer greater flexibility in choosing among participating institutes across India.

Which Exam is Easier: MAH HM CET or NCHMCT JEE?

It is difficult to say that one exam is universally easier. The difficulty depends on:

  • Your academic background
  • English proficiency
  • General awareness
  • Reasoning ability
  • Numerical skills
  • Speed and accuracy
  • Number of candidates
  • Competition for your preferred college
  • If you are already comfortable with the MAH HM CET syllabus and want to study in Maharashtra, MAH HM CET may feel more manageable.
  • If you are preparing for a national-level competition and want to target NCHMCT JEE institutes, NCHMCT JEE may be the more appropriate choice.

Should I Appear for Both MAH HM CET and NCHMCT JEE?

If you meet the eligibility criteria for both exams, appearing for both can be a good strategy.

Taking both exams gives you more options when selecting a college. You can compare your results, college choices, fees, location, placement opportunities and course structure before making your final decision.

However, do not apply to an exam simply because it is popular. First shortlist the colleges and courses you are genuinely interested in and then identify which entrance exam is required for admission.
