MAKAUT is a state university situated in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1998 and run by Government of West Bengal, it is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). A number of undergraduate courses offered by MAKAUT are also accredited by the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Additionally, for undergraduate programmes candidates need to pass Class 12 with a minimum of 45% aggregate.
