JNU MSc Admission 2020: Eligibility, Process, Fee & Application

JNU MSc admission for all its specialisations is done through JNUEE score. However, for Biotechnology, a candidate has to appear for JNU CEEB.  JNU offers MSc in numerous specialisations via nine schools, as listed below:

JNU MSc Eligibility Criteria 2020

 The table below mentions the eligibility criteria for all MSc specialisations:

Life Sciences

Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BTech or equivalent) in Biological Sciences/ Physical Sciences/ Agricultural Sciences or Biotechnology with a minimum of 55% aggregate

Environmental Sciences

BSc degree in any branch of Basic/ Applied Science or BE/BTech/MBBS with a minimum of 55% aggregate

Physics

Bachelor’s degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) with a minimum of 55% aggregate. Applicants with BTech Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical/Computer can also apply

Chemistry

Bachelor’s degree (with Chemistry as one of the subjects) with a minimum of 55% aggregate. Applicants with a BTech degree in Chemical Engineering/ Polymer Engineering/ Petroleum Engineering can also apply

Mathematics

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% aggregate, or BTech or BE in any of the Engineering streams with a CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10.0 (or equivalent aggregate)

Computational and Integrative Sciences

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate in any branch of Basic/ Applied Science or Technology, including Medicine/ Engineering streams

Molecular Medicine

Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Basic/ Applied Sciences (including MBBS/ BVSc/ BPharm) from a recognised university/institute with a minimum of 55% aggregate

Biotechnology

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences/ Biological Sciences/ Agricultural Sciences/ Veterinary Sciences/ Fishery Sciences/ Pharmacy/ Engineering/ Technology or four-year BSc (Physician Assistant Course) or MBBS/ BDS with a minimum of 55% aggregate

JNU MSc Admission Process 2020

The candidates are admitted on the basis of their performance in the JNUEE  and JNU CEEB exam). The candidates qualifying minimum 50 per cent marks for General Category and 45 per cent marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD category in the exam shall be called for viva-voce. Merit lists are prepared for each category i.e. candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PWD categories separately and on the basis of performance of candidates in the total aggregate marks (Exam score + Viva-voce).

JNU MSc Application Process 2020

Candidates can apply to JNU through online as well as offline mode.

Online Application:

  • Candidates can register for admission to MSc programme by filling an online application form available at the official website of the university
  • Application fee of Rs 500 is required to be submitted along with completed application form via online payment modes such as nett banking, credit/ debit card, etc.

Offline Application:

  • Candidates can request the university officials to send the application form by post along with the prospectus by sending Crossed Demand Draft of Rs 500 along with the self-addressed envelope
  • DD should be drawn in the favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University", payable at New Delhi and the letter should clearly indicate the programme of study for which the application form is required
  • Duly filled-in application along with the copies of all the necessary enclosures should reach through registered post/ speed post at the following address:

Enclosures:

  1. Two self-attested copies of the Matriculation, Higher Secondary Pre-University of Indian School Certificate or Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an equivalent examination certificate, showing the age/date of birth of the candidate
  2. A Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended
  3. Two self-attested copies of the statement of marks obtained by the candidate in Senior School or their equivalent examination
  4. SC/ST/OBC Certificate, if belonging to SC/ST/OBC category
  5. A Medical Certificate for PWD Candidates certifying nature & percentage of disability issued by the competent medical authority
  6. Migration Certificate (in original) from the Head of the Institution/ University last attended.
