NIRF Rankings 2025: Top 100 Universities in India - MOE, india, released the 10th edition of NIRF 2025 Rankings on September 4, 2025. According to the NIRF Rankings 2025, the top three universities are the Indian Institute of Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

Top 10 Universities based on NIRF Ranking 2025
In NIRF 2025 Rankings, IISc Bangalore keeps its top spot at Rank 1. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education follow in second and third place. This year, Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, has made an impressive move into the top 10, taking the 7th position.

For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Computer Engineering was 7216 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however, the cut-offs keep changing year after year, it's advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission to the BTech in Computer Engineering course offered at the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).

On the first place is Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, then comes Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education after it. These NIRF 2025 rankings tell which universities doing great in study, research, inclusivity and overall work. It helps you pick better college for higher education. Every university got ranked by how good they perform in different things like teaching and learning, research and other areas. Commonly asked questions
Yes, for admission to some of the programmes IISc Bangalore is way tougher than IITs. Also, the quality of education, research & development quality at IISc Bangalore has very high standards. IISc Bangalore has produced some of the most eminent personalities and has a very high registered patent record.
For getting admission to any of the courses offered at IISc Bangalore, candidates are required to take the entrance exams specified by the university and candidates having valid scores/ percentile will be selected for further admission process.
IISc Bangalore has been ranked 1 and 2 by the NIRF 2023 Rankings under the 'University' and 'Overall' categories, respectively. The NIRF ranking is better than most of the IITs. Also during IISc placements 2023, the highest package offered was INR 85 LPA and the average package offered was INR 28 LPA. Moreover, IISc Bangalore is the only institute that considers the scores of JEE Advanced for admission to its B.Tech course except all the IITs.
