According to the NIRF Rankings 2025, the top three universities are the Indian Institute of Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
The NIRF rankings 2025 cover the top 100 universities in India, highlighting institutions that excel in academics, research, infrastructure, graduation outcomes, and overall impact. NIRF rankings are determined using a set of parameters including Teaching & Learning Resources, Research & Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach & Inclusivity, and Perception. Top 10 Universities based on NIRF Ranking 2025
In the NIRF Rankings 2025, IISc Bangalore continues to lead at Rank 1, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education. This year, the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani has made a notable entry among the top 10 ranks, securing the 7th position.

NIRF 2025 Ranking - Parameters and Their Weightage
The ministry ranks universities and colleges based on 5 parameters. These parameters have some sub-parameters or criteria, each with its weightage. This weightage determines the score obtained by each institution. These 5 determining parameters are mentioned in the table below.
For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Civil Engineering was 27730 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in Jamia Millia Islamia [JMI].
For last year, the closing rank for Discontinued (Jan 2023)- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) was 35224 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this.
