Should DUET 2021 be a centre-based or remote-proctored online exam? Student votes divided, reveals Shiksha survey

The Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide admission to candidates in different undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD programmes offered by Delhi University. It is a national level entrance exam conducted as an online centre-based test across 18 cities. But seeing the current COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country, Shiksha conducted a survey on ‘should NTA conduct the DUET 2021 exam as a centre-based or remote-proctored online paper?’ The reactions of the students were mixed. Here in the article, we have shared a few opinions of the students as well as their percentage.

As per the Shiksha survey, around 10% students voted for centre-based exam for DUET 2021 while 90% students were in favour of remote-proctored online mode of exam.

Should DUET 2021 be a centre-based or remote-proctored online exam? Student Reactions

According to K Adithyan Nair, DUET 2021 should be centre-based as he believes that the real ability of a student can be tested through centre-based exam only. Maanya Chaudhary also voted for the centre-based mode as she thinks that students are responsible enough to follow the COVID-19 protocols. Satatya also believes that centre-based exam is a better option. According to Hardik Jain centre-based exam will help in maintaining the transparency while conducting the exam.

Meanwhile, the larger section of students voiced in favour of remote-proctored online exam. Shreya said that keeping the safety of students in mind, remote-proctored online exam is best option. Similarly, Alisha Arora said that DUET 2021 should be conducted in online mode with proper invigilation technique.

Keeping the current COVID-19 situation in the country as well as safety of the students, Shiksha also considers that DUET 2021 should be conducted in remote-proctored online mode.

However, NTA is yet to announce their decision on the same. This year, DUET is scheduled to be held between September 26 and October 01, 2021. The DUET registration process for undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD programmes is underway. Registration process for DUET 2021 PG, MPhil and PhD courses commenced on July 26, 2021 and will end on August 21. Meanwhile, application process for undergraduate courses started on August 2, 2021 and will conclude on August 31, 2021.
