St. Xaviers College, Kolkata, deserves a NIRF ranking.
Placements: I am not aware of information regarding the placement opportunities at our college, as I am a first year student. I do know that companies like TCS, Wipro, and Amwoodo come to our college. The placement cell is also very active and works all year round.
Infrastructure: The building is a heritage building, and the infrastructure is satisfactory. The classrooms are spacious. Some classrooms are air conditioned. There are several auditoriums, halls, and conference rooms for various activities. The canteen has a good menu, and the field is large.
Faculty: Faculty is well qualified and extremely helpful. The English course covers content from various literary periods and literary criticism. Students gain skills like creative and academic writing, critical thinking, analysis, and close reading. Exams are held regularly.

Great faculty and infrastructure, but course needs to be updated a bit.
Placements: While placement isn't that common in UG English because most people go for a Master's or another degree, people do find internships and part-time positions. People can get placed in publication houses, media houses, etc. Right now, positions for content writing are very common. Placement information regarding this course isn't that prominent because most people prefer higher studies after this. However, everyone is advised to sit for placements.
Infrastructure: The college and the hostel both have Wi-Fi services which are decent. The college library has a pretty good collection, and they have access to online sites for research purposes. The library study room is appropriate for studying and helps one focus. There are no lab facilities for the English Honours course, but there are projectors in every classroom, so audio-visual classes are common. Most classrooms have ACs, while some do not. The hostel rooms are spacious, and there is a study room, game room, etc. The mess food is average. The college canteen has decent food at lower prices.
Faculty: The faculty of the English department has an array of experienced professors as well as newly joined professors who bring in a fresh perspective. The professors are experts in their field and give pretty good lectures. One has to do extra research work, as it is the demand of the course, but the lectures themselves are enough to pass. The faculty is really helpful and always open to clearing doubts.
Other: The college has over 100 years of history and a good reputation, so the name of the college itself has some value, moreover, it has a strong alumni base. The campus life gives you much exposure because of its diverse population and various societies that have events throughout the year.

It is a Christian minority college with strict disciplinary action and excellence in education.
Placements: Average package is 3 LPA – 8 LPA. Most students are recruited by companies like Wipro, Webel, etc. IQAC cell takes care of this department in our college. Students are referred to IQAC cell towards the completion of their last semester. Recruiters from different companies come to assess the students.
Infrastructure: Hostel is pretty good with room accommodation for 2 people, 3 people, or 4 people of the same gender. There is a separate hostel for boys and girls. Good-quality food is provided with rotation. Price ranges from Rs 10,000 - Rs 15,000 per month. The library is open to students from 7 AM to 10 PM.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and cooperative. The method of teaching is excellent with the help of powerpoint presentations and Google classroom. Exams are quite rigorously followed, and students are continuously assessed. They also evaluate co-curricular activities.
Other: English honors is the most famous course here, along with B.Com. The teaching faculty members are highly qualified. The campus crowd is pretty cool.

Go only if you are absolutely sure that you can make three years course work out for you.
Placements: The placements are not up to the-mark that one may have thought at the beginning, since not many companies are willing to hire just freshly minted undergrads, in the sense that they look for some industry exposure, and some also look at your parallel certifications.
Infrastructure: The course infrastructure is fine as far as the college's reputation is concerned. However, the people may not seem to be as involved in students lives on campus per se in the beginning. However, the more time you spend on campus, it begins to grow on you.
Faculty: The faculty is good. However, not all of them have good research output, which is extremely important, more so now than ever since they have started their Ph.D. programme in the department. This is, however, overshadowed by the good teaching. Some even dictate Sparknotes over the internet.
Other: Female students are not allowed to compete in the elections for the Student Council's General Secretary post.

St. Xavier's College is one of the top colleges where you can study staying in Kolkata.
Placements: We passed in the year 2020 during a peak pandemic and therefore, there was no on-campus placement drive. However, we got some opportunities to apply for jobs through our WhatsApp group chat. I also got a job in ITC before I got my results. So a degree from Xavier's College has its perks.
Infrastructure: I haven't stayed in the hostel and hence won't be able to comment on that. Classrooms were spacious and well-lit. We didn't have access to air-conditioned classrooms although. The food served in the canteen was nice and there were a lot of options to choose from.
Faculty: Teachers in our department were very helpful and did their best at sharing their knowledge with us. We were provided with ample notes to go through and mostly, you don't need tuition to score good marks if you follow through with the notes.
Other: I chose the English honors course because I always had an interest in literature as a subject. The best thing about the course is the structure.

I had an enriching experience in our college.
Placements: About 60 students got placed in our batch. I didn't attend for placements, so I don't know about salary packages offered. The top roles offered as part of literary society involved in publishing magazines and organising events. Internships are not needed at the undergraduate level. I don't know about the salary packages offered in our course, and also don't know about recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: We had labs, a good library, canteen and classrooms, and students can participate in sports, games, social work and other activities. Medical facilities were also available. Overall, I had a nice experience at this college, and it was enriching, and I would cherish it always.
Faculty: Each professor was extremely qualified, very helpful, and we enjoyed their classes. They were quite insightful, and their classes were interactive and exciting. The course curriculum is a combination of both new and old things, and it was relevant also. It makes students industry-ready.
Other: I pursued this because I like the subject.

The college offers proper learning and growing environment.
Placements: Almost 5% of the students were placed in the course. They were placed in communications, content, and media companies. The highest salary package offered was 2 LPA. This year, the placement performance was overwhelming. Companies were very good.
Infrastructure: There is a free Wi-Fi system in the college, though it works slow. Labs are well-equipped and work in a positive mode, which engages students through the overall course. The quality of the food served is good, and the food available in the canteen was at a reasonable price. The best thing about it was the cashless payment method.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are friendly, except for two or three in the course. They are knowledgeable and provide top guidance. They make believe student's worth of how things are positive about life. The course is relevant. Students can connect with all the philosophies and theories.
Other: I have chosen this course because I am fond of English literature. I am very much passionate about learning how a poet expresses his or her feelings on papers. More audio visual classes would help it better for students to connect and a bit more parallel reading. One of the top fests in India is held in Xaviers named Xavotsav, where you get to see all the celebrities performing live.
