Google Classroom groups are being created for co-ordinating with students: Nishtha, VIPS

These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

None of us had imagined at the start of this year that we will be facing a global crisis which will force us to be locked in our homes to save ourselves and others from this crisis. But to be honest, I find this lockdown good, it’s better than being hospitalized, right?

But I know this lockdown has created many problems for people. We as students are facing a lot of problems at this hour. During normal circumstances, we would be attending colleges, submitting assignments, giving presentations, preparing for upcoming exams and so much more but now we have to do all this while being confined to our homes.

The scenario has changed completely and it is new for the students as well as the teachers. Teaching through the electronic medium is not easy, it’s really new for the teachers also but I am glad our teachers are doing their best so that we don’t miss on our syllabus.

My college, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, has made sure that the teachers provide the students with notes and also take up online classes on the Zoom app to ensure that our studies do not get affected by the lockdown due to COVID-19. The teachers have also made Google Classroom groups where they send us study material and coordinate with the students through this medium. They also ask questions to check on the students whether they are studying or not.

Since the physical submission of the assignments won’t be possible, all the assignments are changed to research papers and we have to submit them online along with a video of us explaining the topic.

I think all these are good initiatives on the part of my college to make sure that the studies don’t suffer and all of this also helps us in being productive during this time otherwise this time can really make us very lazy.

Also, our college has made ties with several online research portals so that the students can get free access to these portals for working on their research papers. This is very helpful because due to the lockdown, access to libraries or bookshops was not possible and thus, access to these research portals is proving to be very beneficial.

This lockdown may seem to be very annoying at times but make sure you utilize this time very well and study well! Take care!
