How I secured admission at XIME, Kochi: Yash P Mehta

XIME, Kochi

I was always fascinated by Science and Technology because of which I decided to take up Science in 12th grade. Things didn’t go as per my plan and I managed to score only decent marks. However, I was lucky enough to get admission in a prestigious college in Ahmedabad. After completion of my Engineering, I wanted to pursue higher education in Management field so I started preparing for CAT, XAT, SNAP, and CMAT.  

How I cracked college admission

I have always been an average student. QA is something I could manage but DI and LR needed practice and perseverance. Once I figured out my weak areas, I concentrated on them and practiced more on improving them.

Once I had taken the test and filled out forms of various colleges, I concentrated on current affairs for GD and PI rounds. I had taken CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT, and SNAP to attain admission in a premium Indian B-School. Via XAT score I applied for admission to various colleges such as XLRI, KJSOM, IIFM, IMI, FORE, XIME, Great Lakes, and TAPMI.  

I had joined Endeavour Pvt. Ltd. coaching in Ahmedabad for preparation of entrance test as well as GD and PI rounds. They have some brilliant faculty from top B-Schools of India who monitor students round the clock. 

What I gained from my college experience  

XIME, Kochi is a residential campus where students are busy the whole day with academics, assignments, projects, extra curriculum and a lot more. If you do get a little free time, you can rejuvenate yourself on the basketball court or badminton court. We also have four clubs of the four main streams, namely Operation, HR, Marketing, and Finance. Each club conducts events every month which keeps the students up to date in respect of current affairs, current trends in business, the latest technology in the corporate world, etc. Apart from these main clubs, we also have sports club and debate club.  

With the way the curriculum is set, students have to be on their toes every second of the day. By giving presentations almost every day, the confidence to speak in front of a crowd has increased, and this has helped me grow as an individual too. Apart from this, various conferences are also organized by XIME students. These conferences help students in learning the responsibilities of a manager in an organisation. I am the core committee member of X-Ops (operation club) of XIME Kochi.   

If given a chance, I would like to launch a new club for trekking activities as Kerala has a lot of places that can be explored. Before joining XIME I didn’t have any knowledge about the various culture of different states. But since there are students belonging different states on the campus, gradually we are getting to know every state’s culture – this might be extremely helpful when we enter the corporate world.

I have completed my under graduation in BE Mechanical from LJIET, Ahmedabad. Currently, I am pursuing my PGDM from XIME, Kochi. I have a huge interest in the field of robotics. My hobbies include dancing, drawing, swimming, robotics and basketball.
