HITAM Introduces Transformative Twinning Program

Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM) has launched the International 3+1+1 Integrated Twinning Program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to equip students with global competencies and career-ready skills. Through this program, students will complete three years at HITAM in India before pursuing their final two years at a prestigious international partner university, earning both a B.Tech from JNTUH and a Master’s degree from a top-ranked global institution. The partnership has been established with universities, including the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), and George Mason University (GMU).

Integrated Twinning Program

This Integrated Twinning Program is designed to accelerate students’ academic and professional growth by providing a seamless transition for those aspiring to pursue higher education abroad. By blending global academic perspectives with real-world industry applications, the program equips future engineers with the skills to become problem solvers and innovators. In addition to enhancing academic credentials, it offers extensive exposure to international research, innovation, and industry collaborations, along with strong placement support.

Integrated Twinning Program Curriculum

Designed in collaboration with industry leaders and top research institutions, the curriculum ensures that students gain the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the global job market. With a focus on problem-based learning and hands-on projects, the program equips students to meet the evolving demands of industries worldwide.

Graduates of the program in the U.S. can gain valuable international work experience through Optional Practical Training (OPT), allowing them to work in their field for up to three years after graduation. Additionally, students have access to scholarships and financial assistance, making international education more affordable and cost-effective compared to traditional master’s programs abroad.

Padma Shri Dr. Sanjay G Dhande, Former Director, IIT Kanpur and Chairman of, Governing Body, HITAM, said, "The International 3+1+1 Program is a transformative step in making global education more accessible to Indian students. This collaboration ensures that HITAM graduates are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and industry exposure necessary to thrive in the global workforce. Through structured academic support, industry-driven learning, and global partnerships, this program ensures that HITAM students are not just globally ready but globally competitive."

Dr. Jon Hakkila, Associate Provost of International Services, Academic Integrity, and Dean of the Graduate School, University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), USA, said, “The University of Alabama in Huntsville is excited to partner with HITAM and JNTUH on the Integrated (3+1+1) Twinning Programs in aerospace/mechanical engineering and computer engineering/science. The UAH and HITAM faculty have coordinated on crafting programs to provide students with outstanding educational and career development opportunities in two of the world's great technology hubs: Hyderabad and Huntsville!”

Dr. Kamaljeet Sanghera, Executive Director, Global Partnerships and Tech Talent Development, College of Engineering & Computing, George Mason University, USA, said, “Through strategically developed partnerships, students will earn an undergraduate degree from HITAM and a Master’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from George Mason University. Throughout this journey, they will be immersed in real-world projects that equip them with the practical skills necessary for success in the technology industry.”

Dr. Ruth Barratt, Chair of Rader School of Business at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), USA, said, "Through MSOE's collaboration with HITAM and JNTUH, students gain global exposure, technical expertise, and leadership skills, equipping them to drive innovation and solve complex challenges in an evolving digital landscape."
