What is JEXPO Exam?

The West Bengal State Council of Technical Education used to conduct the JEXPO entrance exam, which has now been scrapped. Admission to 1st-year polytechnic courses in West Bengal is done through the merit list prepared by the authorities for all the registered candidates based on the class 10th marks. JEXPO stands for the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics for admissions to diploma courses in engineering/ technology/ architecture.

Candidates appearing for the exam have to pay INR 450 (for valid Kanyashree enrollees: INR 225). Payment of application
fee is to be made online through Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI. 
The authority will not accept the application fee of JEXPO in offline mode.

JEXPO Exam will be conducted for two hours, or 120 minutes, in offline mode. The West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development will release the JEXPO exam pattern on its official website. The JEXPO exam pattern comprises exam duration, type of questions, number of questions, and others. Questions asked in the JEXPO exam are multiple-choice. In the JEXPO exam, the total number of questions asked were 100, and the total marks were also 100.

The JEXPO 2026 eligibility criteria will be announced on the authority's website. Those who seek polytechnic admission at participating colleges in West Bengal must check the eligibility before filling the online application form. The eligibility criteria include age limit, nationality, educational qualification, etc.  As per the previous year's notification, the JEXPO eligibility criteria is given below.

  • Nationality of the candidate: Candidates should be Indian citizens. 
  • Age criteria: No upper age limit. But the candidate’s date of birth should not be after 01.07.2010. 
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination from any recognised board. Candidates who are appearing in their 10th class are also eligible to apply. 
  • Marks criteria: Candidates must have secured 35% marks in their 10th class.

Also, more than one answer against any question will be treated as incorrect response/wrong answer.
