Q:   What is the difference between B.Sc in Agriculture and B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering? Which course has a better scope?
A:

It entirely depends on what you want to do with your education. With India being an agricultural economy you can really strengthen the concepts about break through research techniques if you want to become a researcher or a lecturer and pursue a Masters in fields like Botany, Agricultural Chemistry, Horticulture Mycology, Nematology, Plant Ecology, Seed Technology, Soil Conservation, Agricultural Bio-Technology and Agricultural Engineering.

If you pursue B.Tech, at the end of 4 years you'll be a ready professional with excellent practical knowledge about the agriculture industry.

B.Sc Agriculture is an under graduate three year course which deals with the study of fundamental principles of agriculture whereas B.Tech in Agriculture is a professional course of four years which deals with the study of engineering principles of agriculture.

The reputation of the job profiles and also the remuneration of the B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering graduate are better than that of a B.Sc Agriculture graduate. The job opportunities available for a B.Tech in Agriculture Engg. graduate are comparatively better than that of a B.Sc Agriculture graduate.

While comparing with career opportunities and salary package, the average salary package offered to BTech Agricultural Engg. graduates is between INR 4 LPA and INR 8 LPA. But average salary package in the case of B.Sc graduates in Agriculture is up to INR 4 LPA. They can find numerous opportunities in State Farms Corporation of India, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), National Seeds Corporation Limited and Food Corporation of India.

Rest, the choice is yours. You can think about your interests and plans ahead and then come to any conclusion as to which course to pursue.
