The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MOSPI) has announced an upcoming Hackathon in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar. Scheduled to take place from March 21 to 23, 2025, at the IIT Gandhinagar Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, this event aims to bring together students, developers, and researchers to tackle real-world socio-economic challenges.
Participants will leverage public data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Data Science to develop innovative solutions, fostering a deeper understanding of data-driven decision-making. This Hackathon presents a unique opportunity for aspiring problem-solvers to showcase their skills and contribute to meaningful advancements in the field of data analytics and AI-driven insights.

The application process for the MOSPI-IIT Gandhinagar Hackathon is now open, with the deadline for submissions set for February 28, 2025. The MOSPI-IIT Gandhinagar Hackathon will feature 3 problem statements:
1. Development of an AI/ML-based predictive model for estimating Monthly Per Capita Expenditure (MPCE)
2. Development of a Semantic Search from text to National Industrial Classification Code
3. Development of an Al-based Legacy Data Extraction and Processing Tool

Yes, non-GATE candidates must appear for the institute level entrance test. However, all candidates are required to appear for the PI round for final selection. In addition to this, BTech graduates from the IITs with CGPA/ CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to get admission to M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar without GATE. Other than GATE or the criteria state above, candidates are required to be a pass in BE/ BTech/ MSc or equivalent in appropriate branches with a minimum of 55% aggregate or 5.5 on a 10-point scale (50% aggregate for SC /ST).
