IIT JAM 2026 Mathematics Exam Pattern
Each test paper of IIT JAM Mathematics is of three hours duration. Students need to attempt 60 questions of total weightage of 100 marks. All these questions are divided into three sections - A, B, and C, which are mandatory for students. They need to attempt questions from all sections. English is the medium of instruction.

- Vector Calculus: Scalar and vector fields, gradient, divergence, curl, line integrals, surface integrals, Green, Stokes, and Gauss theorems.
- Group Theory: Groups, subgroups, Abelian groups, non-Abelian groups, cyclic groups, permutation groups, normal subgroups, Lagrange's Theorem for finite groups, group homomorphism, and basic concepts of quotient groups.
- Linear Algebra: Finite dimensional vector spaces, linear independence of vectors, basis, dimension, linear transformations, matrix representation, range space, null space, rank-nullity theorem.
