M Shanmugam, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Madurai, shared at a press conference held at the IGNOU Study Centre-2504 at Bishop Heber College in Tiruchi, that the university is focused on reaching rural learners, underprivileged groups, women, school dropouts, and individuals seeking to upgrade their qualifications. IGNOU aims to enhance educational access and provide opportunities for a diverse range of learners.

Yes, IGNOU offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) course of three-year duration. Admission to the UG-level course is subject to fulfiment of the eligibility requirements. Apart from this, the open university also offers four-year BA (Hons) programmes across different specialisations. Some of the specialisations in which the honors course is offered are Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Public Administrstion, and more.
