RRB JE 2025: Vacancies (Revised), Application (Extended), Eligibility, Exam Dates, Syllabus & Pattern

The Railway Recruitment Boards released the RRB JE 2025 notification on its official websites. The official notification mentioned all the important information related to exam such as the vacancies, eligibility, important dates, application process, examination process and the rules and regulations that will govern the exam. The RRB JE notification also mentioned the relaxation in the application fee and the age for the candidates belonging to certain reserved categories. RRB JE 2025 Applications

The Railway Recruitment Boards activateed the RRB JE 2025 online application link on October 31. We suggest the candidates to read the official notification before applying for the RRB JE exam 2025. The last date for the RRB JE 2025 application form is December 10 till 23.59 PM. The RRBs provided the facility for the RRB JE 2025 application modification.

RRB JE application is the first step to enter the recruitment process of the exam. The RRBs issue centralised notifications and invite applications from the candidates for the nearest RRB. Later the RRBs also issue the RRB JE application status of the candidates.

The candidates should note that the salary of the RRB JE posts will be as per the Pay Level 6 having an initial pay of INR 35,400. The RRB JE 2025 application fee is INR 500 for all categories except SC, ST, Ex-Service Man, Female, Transgender, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC). The fee for such candidates for CBT 1 is INR 250.

RRB JE Eligibility Criteria 2025

The Railway Recruitment Boards mentioned the RRB JE 2025 eligibility criteria in the official notification. The candidates can check the eligibility criteria below for the exam. The eligibility criteria for the RRB JE recruitment is defined based on Nationality, Age and Educational Qualification. The candidates who fulfil all the eligibility conditions are supposed to fill out the application form because, in the absence of that, the candidature will be liable to be cancelled at the advanced stage of the examination. All the original documents will be verified at the stage of verification of document and in the absence of any required document, the candidate will lose his candidature. Candidates waiting for the final results of the prescribed educational qualifications should not apply.

Nationality

(i) A candidate must be either:
a. a citizen of India, or
b. a subject of Nepal, or
c. a subject of Bhutan, or
d. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. The person may be selected and recommended but the appointment letter will be issued to him only after he gets such a certificate from the Government of India.

Age Limit for RRB JE 2025

The lower age limit for the RRB JE exam is 18 and the upper age limit is 33 years. The candidates should note that the cutoff date for the age calculation was January 1, 2026. The revised age limit will be applicable to this year (2025) only. The age relaxation is provided to the reserved categories as follows:

The candidates should note that the cutoff date for the claim of SC / ST / OBC / EWS / EBC status or any other benefit viz. fee concession, reservation, age relaxation, etc., where not specified otherwise, will be the closing date for submission of ONLINE applications.

To provide relief to many candidates who had exceeded the age limit and missed the opportunity to participate in railway recruitment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to grant one- time age relaxation of 3 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit for these notified posts.

Educational Qualification for RRB JE 2025

The candidates need to fulfil the educational criteria given in the official notification to appear in the RRB JE recruitment exam. The RRB JE exam is divided into 5 sub-groups to define the educational criteria, syllabus and other events. The subgroups and their educational qualification is defined as follows:

Candidates should ensure that they possess/fulfil all eligibility conditions prescribed for the post(s) as of the closing date of online registration. Candidates waiting for the final results of the prescribed educational qualifications should not apply.

The Railway Recruitment Board released the post-wise vacancies for each RRB separately in the Annexure B of the official notification. The candidates can see the annexure to know the stream-wise vacancies in the RRBs. The total number of RRB JE vacancies increased for CEN 05/2025 from 2569 to 2588.

The candidates should note that the official notification mentioned the RRB JE syllabus 2025 for the 1st Stage CBT and 2nd Stage CBT separately. The RRB mentioned the name of the topics only. RRB JE 2^st Stage CBT Syllabus 2025

As per the official notification, shortlisting of candidates for the second stage CBT exam shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in the first stage CBT exam. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes and 160 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by a scribe. The total number of questions asked will be 150. There will be a negative marking of one third mark (1/3rd) mark for every wrong answer. Virtual calculator will be made available on the Computer Monitor during CBT-2 exam. The CBT-2 questions will be objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, basics of Computers and Applications, basics of Environment and Pollution Control is common for all notified posts under this CEN as provided below:

Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and Constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General Scientific and Technological Developments etc.

RRB JE 1^st Stage CBT Syllabus 2025

The RRB JE 1st Stage CBT will be conducted online at the designated exam centres. The CBT-1 has the following subjects:

The Railway Recruitment Board mentioned the RRB JE exam pattern for each stage separately. The candidates should note that RRB JE is conducted as an online exam. Railway Recruitment Boards were created initially with the name of service commissions and were created at different dates. Later in 1985, the Railway Services Commissions were renamed and restructured as the Railway Recruitment Boards. In the year 1998, all the RRBs came under the umbrella organisation Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB), which directly works under the Ministry of Railway (Railway Board).
RRBs are responsible for recruiting personnel for various positions. They coordinate, recruit through a centralised recruitment advertisement and conduct online computer-based tests (CBT) nationwide.

What is RRB JE Recruitment?

RRB JE recruitment is a recruitment exercise meant to recruit the Junior Engineer (JE), Junior Engineer (Information Technology) Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) in various Departments of Railways. The pay level of the RRB JE is Pay Level 6 and the basic salary of the candidates will be INR 35,400.

The Railway Recruitment Boardswill release the RRB JE admit card for CBT 1 exam and city intimation slip on the official website. The RRB JE exam dates have not been released yet. The exam will be conducted online.
