RRB JE 2025: The registration is ongoing for RRB JE CEN 05/2025. It was started on October 31. The last date to apply has been extended to December 10 instead of November 30. The last date to pay the fee is December 12. The application correction window will open from December 13 to 22, 2025. The examination dates has not been announced yet. Also, the age relaxation given last time of three years has also removed this time. The total vacancies increased are 2588 from 2569. Scroll down for more details.

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released schedule for the second round of verification of document and medical examination for Junior Engineer (JE) recruitment for adv no. CEN 03/2024. The detailed notice is available on official RRB website. For document checking and medical candidates will have to reach Railway Recruitment Board Office, Chandigarh. Schedule date for DV is November 20 by 9:30 AM. As per the official notice, medical examination will be conducted on the next working day for DV of candidate.

RRB JE Notification & Application Form 2025

The Railway Recruitment Boards released the RRB JE 2025 notification on its official websites. The official notification mentioned all the important information related to exam such as the vacancies, eligibility, important dates, application process, examination process and the rules and regulations that will govern the exam. The RRB JE notification also mentioned the relaxation in the application fee and the age for the candidates belonging to certain reserved categories. RRB JE 2025 Applications

The Railway Recruitment Boards activateed the RRB JE 2025 online application link on October 31. We suggest the candidates to read the official notification before applying for the RRB JE exam 2025. The last date for the RRB JE 2025 application form is December 10 till 23.59 PM. The RRBs provided the facility for the RRB JE 2025 application modification.

RRB JE application is the first step to enter the recruitment process of the exam. The RRBs issue centralised notifications and invite applications from the candidates for the nearest RRB. Later the RRBs also issue the RRB JE application status of the candidates.

The candidates should note that the salary of the RRB JE posts will be as per the Pay Level 6 having an initial pay of INR 35,400. The RRB JE 2025 application fee is INR 500 for all categories except SC, ST, Ex-Service Man, Female, Transgender, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC). The fee for such candidates for CBT 1 is INR 250.

RRB JE Eligibility Criteria 2025

The Railway Recruitment Boards mentioned the RRB JE 2025 eligibility criteria in the official notification. The candidates can check the eligibility criteria below for the exam. The eligibility criteria for the RRB JE recruitment is defined based on Nationality, Age and Educational Qualification. The candidates who fulfil all the eligibility conditions are supposed to fill out the application form because, in the absence of that, the candidature will be liable to be cancelled at the advanced stage of the examination. All the original documents will be verified at the stage of verification of document and in the absence of any required document, the candidate will lose his candidature. Candidates waiting for the final results of the prescribed educational qualifications should not apply.

Nationality

(i) A candidate must be either:
a. a citizen of India, or
b. a subject of Nepal, or
c. a subject of Bhutan, or
d. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. The person may be selected and recommended but the appointment letter will be issued to him only after he gets such a certificate from the Government of India.

Age Limit for RRB JE 2025

The lower age limit for the RRB JE exam is 18 and the upper age limit is 33 years. The candidates should note that the cutoff date for the age calculation was January 1, 2026. The revised age limit will be applicable to this year (2025) only. The age relaxation is provided to the reserved categories as follows:

The candidates should note that the cutoff date for the claim of SC / ST / OBC / EWS / EBC status or any other benefit viz. fee concession, reservation, age relaxation, etc., where not specified otherwise, will be the closing date for submission of ONLINE applications.

To provide relief to many candidates who had exceeded the age limit and missed the opportunity to participate in railway recruitment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to grant one- time age relaxation of 3 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit for these notified posts.

Educational Qualification for RRB JE 2025

The candidates need to fulfil the educational criteria given in the official notification to appear in the RRB JE recruitment exam. The RRB JE exam is divided into 5 sub-groups to define the educational criteria, syllabus and other events. The subgroups and their educational qualification is defined as follows:

RRB JE Syllabus 2025 (CBT 1 & CBT 2)

The candidates should note that the official notification mentioned the RRB JE syllabus 2025 for the 1st Stage CBT and 2nd Stage CBT separately. The RRB mentioned the name of the topics only. RRB JE 2st Stage CBT Syllabus 2025

As per the official notification, shortlisting of candidates for the second stage CBT exam shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in the first stage CBT exam. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes and 160 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by a scribe. The total number of questions asked will be 150. There will be a negative marking of one third mark (1/3rd) mark for every wrong answer. Virtual calculator will be made available on the Computer Monitor during CBT-2 exam. The CBT-2 questions will be objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, basics of Computers and Applications, basics of Environment and Pollution Control is common for all notified posts under this CEN as provided below:

The RRB JE 2025 provisional answer key will be released along with the question paper and response sheet. Candidates who will appear for the exam can view their questions, responses, and answer keys by visiting the official websites of RRB. 

Candidates can raise objections by paying INR 50 plus applicable bank service charges per question. In case the objection raised by the candidates is found correct, then the fee paid against such valid objections shall be refunded to the candidate after deduction of applicable bank charges. The refund will be made to the account from which the candidate has made the payment online. The mode of the payment of fee will be through the debit cards/credit cards/UPI /Net banking.

RRB JE exam is conducted in four stages starting from Stage I Computer Based Test( CBT) to the Medical test. The selection process is given here:

Filling up the Application Form

The RRB JE Recruitment applications are invited from the candidates after the notification. The candidates are given 30 days to fill out the application form online. For the RRB JE, the application fee is INR 500 for the unreserved category and INR 250 for the SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class.

It was also mentioned that this examination fee will be refunded fully to the reserved category candidates when they appear in the CBT-1 exam. The unreserved category candidates will receive INR.400 back in their account on appearing in the CBT-1.

The candidates were allowed to modify their application form twice only. For each modification in the RRB JE application form, the candidates were required to pay a fee INR 100.

Issue of RRB JE CBT -1 Admit Card

The RRB JE admit card is released for each stage of the exam separately and the candidates are required to download the admit card and present it at the exam centre. The other government ID proofs are also required with the adit card and can be asked at the time of exam by the competent authority.

The RRB JE admit card is released to all the candidates whose applications were accepted by the respective RRBs. The admit card for the RRB JE CBT-1 will be issued 4 days before the CBT-1 exam. 

RRB JE CBT -1 Exam

RRB JE CBT-1 exam is the first stage of the selection process. It is a computer-based test conducted to filter out the candidates for CBT-2. The CBT-1 is an online objective type test and the duration of this test is 90 Minutes. There will be 100 questions in the CBT-1 and each question was of 1 mark. There will be a negative marking of 1/3 in the RRB JE CBT-1. The score of CBT-1 will be decided after the normalisation of marks done in the manner defined in the RRB JE Notification.

Manner of Normalisation in RRB JE Recruitment

CBT exam is conducted in multiple sessions for the same syllabus and each session will have a different question paper. The raw marks obtained by the candidates are converted into normalised marks to give them all a level playing field. The raw marks for the single session paper and normalized marks for the multi-session paper were used for computing the Merit Index, which is a common benchmark for generating merit for candidates from different exam groups.

Normalisation Formula for RRB JE Recruitment

For the multisession papers, a suitable normalization is applied to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different sessions.

Calculation of marks was made up to 5 decimal points.
The merit of the CBT-1 is calculated based on these normalised scores of the candidates.

RRB JE Result for CBT-1 will be declared based on the normalised marks. 

RRB JE CBT-2 Exam

The RRB JE CBT-2 exam is the second of the four stages of the recruitment process. This is a crucial and decisive stage for the final selection. The RRB JE CBT-2 is also an objective type test having 150 questions and a time duration of 120 minutes. There was a negative marking of 1/3 in the RRB JE CBT-2 also.

There will be normalisation of marks obtained by the candidates in the RRB JE CBT-2 exam. The RRB JE Result for CBT-2 marks the completion of RRB JE Stage 2. In addition to above, extra candidates will also be called for the document verification to maintain a standby list of 50% as given in the official notification.

RRB JE Document Verification (DV)

This is the penultimate stage of the RRB JE Recruitment process. All the candidates qualified in the RRB JE CBT-2 will be called for their original document verification. The original document of the candidates is verified in accordance with the claims made in the RRB JE online application form. In case of any discrepancy found during the DV Stage, the candidature of the candidate stands cancelled.

RRB JE Medical Examination

After the Document verification stage, the qualified candidates need to qualify for the medical test as per the given medical standards for each exam group in the official notification. The Medical examination is conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure the medical fitness of the qualified candidates.

Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other surgery procedure to correct refractory error are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A3, B1 and B2. Different Medical standards shall apply to Ex-Servicemen.
After successfully qualifying the medical examination, the candidates are recommended to the service by declaring the final result and issuing them the appointment letter.

In the RRB JE CBT 1, in total 100 questions will be asked. Marks awarded is 100 and candidates need to complete the exam in 90 minutes. There is a negative marking, one third marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
