A dream come true: Surbhi

I belong to a middle-class family, where our occupation is farming. I have seen my father working hard in sunny summers and in foggy winters to grow crops. I was good in my academics since I was a child. After completing my 12th, I decided to complete my graduation in the agricultural field so that I could grab some knowledge and help my father.

I still remember the days when I was in Lovely Professional University pursuing my B.Sc in Agriculture. Those times were my favorite when my friends and I sat together at the food kiosks having snacks in between our lectures, having those rare intellectual talks about our future. We were in our last year when questions like ‘What’s next after graduation? Masters or job?’ begun to haunt us. We also enjoyed having such talks.

We all know what we want to achieve in our lives. It’s just that you need to know your worth and follow what you want to achieve. Majority of us do not have the certainty and assurance to pursue our dreams.

I have always been a bright student. My friends use to borrow notes from me. I was very famous in my agricultural department. I had a very pleasing personality and that’s why I was a favourite of my faculties too. My presentation skills and communication skills were also very good which eventually paid off and I became the class representative of my section.  While studying, I have enjoyed my days at LPU to its fullest.

I took admission at LPU, but again there was a problem with my course fee. Financially, we were not so stable. But then I got the scholarship at LPU on the basis of my academic percentage in 12th. I had confidence that whatever life will provide me, I would ace it with grace.

When I first entered the LPU Campus, I was speechless by looking at such a huge, green and beautiful campus. For me, it was like a dream come true to study with international students. Lovely School of Agriculture has well-equipped laboratories, library, lecture rooms, and excellent farm facility to conduct agricultural experiments. We learned about the various advanced technologies used in farming, how to protect the crops, with extensive fieldwork and field trips for the evergreen field of agriculture. I really feel proud that I am a graduate from a school of agriculture, which is the only private university in India to get ICAR accreditation.

The memories are still fresh when the placements were going on. We all were eagerly waiting for that day, the end stage of any course. We were provided extra classes for placements. I have achieved what I wanted to. I also help my father in his farming business. My confidence is increasing every day and it is making a path for me to achieve all my dreams in life. My college life has been excellent. In fact, I would recommend students LPU for agriculture course as the university provides its student the most preferable platform to gain practical knowledge.
