The University was established as the Central University of Jammu and Kashmir. It was established along with 15 other Central Universities by an Act of Parliament in 2009. The University has been granted 503+ acres of land during its establishment by the state government. CUK has 21 schools and 21 constituent teaching departments. These establishments offer 40+ PG, UG, Diploma, Research, and Vocational programmes.

To join this university, students must first secure good marks in entrance exams. Then with valid scores apply on the official website of the university. Take part in the interview round and pay the admission fee after confirmation of the admission.
IUST (Islamic University of Science and Technology) is one of the best universities in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The university has a very beautiful campus with a massive infrastructure with a well trained teaching faculty and is recognised by UGC and AICTE and is also a member of AIU, which makes it great both in terms of academics and infrastructure.
