The campus life is the best.

Placements: In my course, many students pursue their future studies in various fields for PhD or JRF by clearing the GATE exam. Some students went abroad for internships, like Spain, the US, and Germany. Last year, our senior also represented India in the talk of WHO.

Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi all over the campus. Labs are well-mannered and maintained. In the library, there are so many books and review articles are present. There is also a health center on our campus. There are so many sports grounds inside the campus near the hostel area. The mess food is good enough.

Faculty: Our institute teachers are all junior researchers doing their research in their fields and teaching on campus only. They are frank enough. We can ask our doubts anytime by Email and they reply to us in a short period of time. There are too many exams but it will be enough for us to study from the first day.

Other: Our campus fest is very good and held in February-March. There is enough space for students so there we cannot see the crowd.

Wonderful for extracurricular activities.

Placements: My department offers a lot of internships and research opportunities. Most students in this course are likely to get internships. Students are also likely to get jobs from this department because the need for geologists and environmental scientists is high in this country.

Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi in almost every building, including the dorms and academic buildings. The classrooms and labs are excellent, and the sports facilities are the best I've seen. The dorms have double rooms and a large common room with a seating area and TV.

Faculty: The professors are highly qualified, and the curriculum is relevant to the field. The semester exams are challenging, but the students are well-prepared for both research and jobs. In addition, field trips are offered to students.

Other: EES is my field of interest due to its diverse range of subjects. It also uses all the branches of science, including geophysics, geochemistry, environmental science, hydrology, and seismology. The student activity council regulates extracurricular activities, and fests are held accordingly.

Campus Review of IISER Bhopal.

Placements: Students from each department get a decent number of internships in good institutes and companies all over the world. The average salary package of each student is around 7.6 lacs per annum. An average of 70% of students get placed from the Engineering and Economics departments.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is provided in every corner of the campus, including hostels, the academic building, laboratories, the central library, the lecture hall complex, and many more. There are a total of 7 hostels on the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal campus. It has three main academic buildings.

Faculty: The course curriculum is totally relevant for the research fields that we are going to opt for in the future, as we will study in depth. The professors are very helpful and highly qualified for their jobs. The professors have teaching assistants in each course to help students clear their doubts and problems properly.

Other: There are many events happening throughout the year on campus, such as the celebration of festivals and many more. There are various fests on the IISER campus, including Science Fest, Teach Fest, Enthuzia, and many others. In extracurricular activities, IISER has many departmental clubs.

Really good faculty members, improving infrastructure and more opportunities to research.

Placements: IISER Bhopal is more or less a college that focuses more on research than placements. Placements are very few—nearly less than 10 percent. Since IISER Bhopal is the only IISER offering an engineering degree, a few of them opt for placements, and a very few from natural science go for placements. Others normally choose a Ph.D. and continue with postdoctoral work and research. I guess the packages are often within 30 LPA or more. I am not sure about the minimum offered. As research is one of the most underpaid careers, it's worth noting that annual packages are comparatively low. Almost 90 percent of students get a chance to intern, either paid or unpaid. I am a BSc in Earth and Environment Sciences, which has more opportunities for research as well as jobs abroad or at the at the national level. But some technical skills and programming languages are essential. I'll pass out in 2026, currently in my fourth year.

Infrastructure: We have free Wi-Fi everywhere. With great speed and good connectivity. The classrooms and departments are air-conditioned. We have a library but it cannot hold the total capacity of the students on the campus right now. But except during exam season, not that much rush is experienced. We rely more on online books and pdfs because very few copies of the originals are available. Rooms are double-shared. In the old hostels, rooms were small and built for single sharing but due to increased intake, we do share rooms. Washrooms are regularly cleaned and neat, except for some incidents of students not maintaining them. Food in some messes is great for the PHDs, but in others it is just eatable or average. But it varies according to the person. We do have vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Games and sports facilities are good and improving. We have good coaches and trainers.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. Teaching quality is good in our department. Labs and TAs are also really good. The curriculum is mostly theoretical; we have to learn skills and programming in addition to being industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult because we do learn a lot in a 4-month semester. Pasa percent varies greatly according to professor and subject but there is a norm that only less than or equal to 30% of students fail. But there are instances where more than this number of students failed. Not everyone will pass; we have to work hard for it according to the relatively toughness of the course. Grading may be abstract or relatively simple. It is all up to the professor, including grading.

Other: I wanted to learn about Atmospheric and Climate Sciences in future so I chose EES as my major. The best things are great professors, good field trips, and the best basic theoretical and practical courses. If more skill- and programming-related things are involved, it would be better. We have an annual cultural festival, Enthuzia, the biggest in the college. Annual sports meet Sangarsh, annual arts and literary fest Called Arts and letters, Science fest Singularity and other cultural festivals of each state. Connectivity is bit difficult as a college is far from town. Scholarships are available like Inspire, etc. But nothing is provided by IISERs other than for SC / St category, where they don't pay tuition fee. There are some grant for students with greater academic background and CGPA. Sports, music club arts club and clubs of each department conduct extracurricular activities .

Very good infrastructure and a very great place to make new friends with good exposure to the world.

Placements: We haven't started the placements yet in our course. But many of the students are getting good internships in Canada, Germany and even within India. You can even get jobs in ONGC and change the field when pursuing Ph.D. as this course is multidisciplinary.

Infrastructure: We have a very good infrastructure and a beautiful campus with seasonal flowers all around the campus. We get a free Wi-Fi across the college. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and are air conditioned. All the qualities like health centres and sports facilities are available here. Mess food can be improved.

Faculty: Faculty members are well qualified and helpful to some extent. The curriculum is so vast and we get a taste of everything. The semester exams are not that difficult if prepared well. Most of the students clear the courses in the 1st attempt itself. It makes the students industry ready to some extent.

Other: Campus could improve in the fests and scholarships provided to the students.

The college provides great infrastructure, faculty, and research opportunities, but poor placements.

Placements: In 2019, the first batch of BS-MS in EES will graduate. Hence placement data from this department is not available. However, with the recent initiation of the placement cell led by an active team of students with cooperation from the administration has started making efforts towards inviting companies for placements and creating opportunities.

Infrastructure: IISER Bhopal has developed one of the finest infrastructures in the country amongst all the government institutions. It has state-of-the-art facilities including free Wi-Fi, well-equipped laboratories, and excellent classrooms. The campus has a 24-hour health centre with a doctor present at all times and regular trips to the nearby Chirayu Medical College and Hospital. The campus has excellent infrastructure for all indoor and outdoor games including several basketball, tennis, volleyball, and badminton courts along with cricket and football ground. Even table tennis and carrom are available in each hostel. The campus has multiple canteens, mess, grocery and bakery shops and a shopping complex with a restaurant. Each student is provided with a single room from 2nd year onwards, and each room has a dedicated LAN port along with other basic amenities. The campus has completed its construction phase and has grown quite a lot of green cover as well.

Faculty: The institute has high standards in terms of faculty hiring policies and each faculty in the institute is a PhD holder from a reputed institution. All faculty members follow their independent teaching style while adhering to the course curriculum. However, a regular students' reaction survey is obtained to maintain quality and standards of teaching. The student to faculty is ratio is quite good. Industry exposure is not directly relevant to a science research kind of course. However, students take internship positions in various research institutes and even in industries occasionally during their summer breaks. The course curriculum is well designed and is a competitive one at the national and global level. The institute also encourages interdisciplinarity in its course structure which gives an edge to every graduate from IISER.

Other: The institute has a very active social and extracurricular life with a science and a cultural fest each year. Various committees organise fine arts events, movie screenings, and many creative activities throughout the year. The most attractive part of IISER is the award of Inspire fellowship of Rs. 60000 each year to a large section of the student community based on a merit system. The fee of the institute is nominal compared to any engineering college over the country. Bhopal campus is about 20 kilometres from the main city but has good connectivity through autos.
