B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial intelligence) - Batch of 2029

Good college to give your future wings.
Placements: I am not sure about percentage of placement, but in this year there are many students who got good placement and internship offered by companies because our university signed MoU with many companies like Vivo, Microsoft. Top recruiting companies are Apple, Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra, HCL and many more.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is like foreign countries’ university which is built on a next level. There are so many facilities provided by my university like fresh water, the biggest library, lift, emergency door for traffic people, and sitting area etc., which is good.
Faculty: I think so because some teachers come and complete their PPT and then leave the class, and this is the review I took from other classroom students. And my class teachers are good and help me a lot of things and give opportunities to participate in several events.
Other: I chose B.Tech CSE AIML because it has scope in future and world goes ahead on digital and depending on AI.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2029

It is generally famous for its GATE preparation, especially in core branches.
Placements: It is a good college in terms of GATE preparation because many students prepare for GATE. In terms of placement, the college has not performed well in the last few years, and the average package for the mechanical branch is 5 to 6 lakhs. Also, fewer companies visit here because of the lack of transportation facilities. The internship ratio is also not too good.
Infrastructure: For the first-year students, the hostels are good; they also provide Wi-Fi facilities, but the Wi-Fi is made available after 1 to 2 months of joining the hostel. The library present here is too small, and students cannot sit there for studies because it is too compact, and you will feel congested too.
Faculty: Undoubtedly, the teachers are very helpful and qualified too. If we ask them for help, they assist us in all possible ways. The curriculum is somewhat similar to other colleges like NITs and IITs. The semester exam is also not too tough. They are somewhat medium difficult, and the passing percentage is somewhere between 85 to 90 percent.
Other: This college has two types of fests: one cultural fest, Anubhuti, and the other tech fest, Twaran. Specially, I like this college because it has won SIH many times.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2024
Offered by Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology (PSIT Kanpur)

Good campus, average job.
Placements: Around 90% of students got placed in my course. The highest package offered was 51 LPA. The average package (for B.Tech CSE/IT) is about 6.5 LPA. The lowest package is not always explicitly reported in recent public data, but holder placement reports suggest many offers start in the lower Lacs range (for example, in one year, the entry packages from big recruiters like Infosys or TCS were around 3.6 LPA). Some of the big names that frequently recruit from PSIT include Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Microsoft (they offered very high packages), Wipro, and Capgemini, who also come regularly.
Infrastructure: PSIT offers AC classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, and a large digital library. Hostels are clean with AC/non-AC rooms, good mess food, medical care, and strong sports facilities. Overall, the campus provides a comfortable and study-friendly environment.
Faculty: The teachers at PSIT are generally helpful and well-qualified, and most students find the teaching style clear and supportive. The curriculum is updated regularly and includes practical work, which helps make students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate or difficult. Neither too easy nor extremely tough. The overall pass percentage remains high because classes, labs, and internal assessments keep students well prepared.
Other: I chose this course mainly because I was genuinely interested in technology and wanted a stream that offered both good learning and strong placement opportunities. The best part about the course is the practical exposure. Labs, projects, and regular coding sessions really help in understanding concepts better. The only thing I feel could improve is more industry-focused workshops and advanced elective options.

Regarding faculty, infrastructure, and study, the overall experience feels unsatisfactory.
Placements: I am in the B.Tech CSE department of this college. The placement rate is around 30-40%, with packages ranging from 1.5 LPA to 50 LPA and an average of 5.2 LPA, which is not so good, and till now the highest is 50 LPA in 2023 at Microsoft. Major recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra. Around 25-30% of students get an internship, mostly off-campus. The main roles offered are Software Engineer, Web Developer, and Data Analyst. But most of the students of this college believe in a start-up.
Infrastructure: The campus is too small, with an area of 14,000 square Meters. Classroom size is good, but some fans are not in running condition. The water cooler is functioning, but the quality is poor. Labs are there, but not too advanced. The library is good for self-study purposes, but the books are limited. Wi-Fi covers 60 percent of the college building, and the speed is slow. The hostel is only for 1st-year students and is not on campus, away 3-4 km from the college. The private hostel and its quality are good. Medical facilities are not provided. Sports and games are available; lots of students play, but only one common ground.
Faculty: My honest opinion is that most of the teachers are not very qualified for teaching in B.Tech. Knowledge is not up to the mark, and their teaching quality is not so good. So, most of the students study online. As engineers, we should have knowledge of every subject, but in my university, the syllabus is too old and needs to be updated. If an irrelevant subject is removed from the syllabus, then most of the students can focus on their skill portions and get ready for the industry. The semester exam is not tough, and the pass percentage is 33 percent.
Other: Actually, I aim to do B. I was taught by IITs and NITs, but I had a low percentile, so I didn't get it. Through counseling, I chose this college because it is a government college. I want that in the 1st year all the subjects we should learn, but from the 2nd year on, only industrial subjects should be taught. And in my college, Fest-events are there, but they should be organized in a better manner.

Shiny infrastructure, average teaching, and limited internships. PSIT needs depth beyond placements.
Placements: PSIT Kanpur's B.Tech CSE placements show that 80-85 percent of students are placed, but mostly in service firms. The highest package is 51 LPA (rare), with an average of 6 LPA-7 LPA. 1 percent of students got internships. 1% Top roles offered are SDE, QA, and analyst. Big names recruit few, most settled for mid-tier jobs. Reality is not entirely in the brochure they provide.
Infrastructure: PSIR Kanpur offers AC labs, smart classrooms, and a decent library, but the Wi-Fi is limited to 2GB/day. Hostels are basic, and the mess food is average and repetitive. Sports infrastructure exists but lacks culture. Medical aid is minimal. Facilities look good, but the depth is missing.
Faculty: PSIT CSE faculty are qualified, but teaching is often theory-heavy, lacking industry tools. Curriculum is outdated, rarely industry-ready. Exams are moderate, the pass rate is 90 percent, but real skill development is weak, with a focus more on grades than skill development and growth.
Other: I chose this course because there is so much scope in it for the future. The best thing about it is that we learn to code, make projects, etc. All I wish is that the teaching method and ideology of the faculty teaching us would be better. Fests are the most boring. Throughout the day you would have to roam the college, getting bored and stuff. Real enjoyment begins at night.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Moderate and decent package.
Placements: Most of the students get placed in companies. The highest package so far is 64 LPA. Last year, the highest package was around 15 LPA-17 LPA. The average package is around 3 LPA-5 LPA. Recruitment has some eligibility criteria, like CGPA and no back coding DSA in any coding language.
Infrastructure: There are 11 hostels. Wi-Fi is available all over the campus, named BIET, with good speed. One common library for all the year students. One common sports ground for sports like football, cricket, kabaddi, and volleyball. One building for indoor games is available.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful while maintaining attendance and supportive of scholarship and studies, too. They have teaching experience and have a Ph.D., and some are guest faculty. Semester exam and class test are conducted for the evaluation of the subject. 41 out of 100 is a passing mark.
Other: Scholarships are given to all eligible students. Fests are conducted regularly.
