AKTU BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University BTech is offered across multiple specialisations. These are offered through the affiliated colleges as well. The BTech specialisations offered by the university are Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, etc. Selection for AKTU BTech course admission is based on JEE (Main) and CUET-UG (for some specialisations). Yes, candidates seeking admission to DR. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University undergraduate and postgraduate courses must have appeared for the CUET-UG and CUET-PG entrance exams, respectively. AKTU will not admit students who do not a valid CUET score. NTA usually releases CUET result in July. CUET UG Counselling is held and conducted separately by the participating institutes. CUET UG Counselling is usually held between Jul and Aug.

AKTU offers a full-time DPharm through City Group of College, which is a college affiliated to AKTU. The college offers a two-year Diploma in Pharmacy for candidates who have passed Class 12 in the stream of Science. AKTU is a state-level, public collegiate university. Formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), it is a University of National Importance, specially for the UG and PG courses offered in the field of Engineering and Science. AKTU accepts JEE Main Scores for admission to the BTech and BTech Integrated courses. AKTU BTech cutoff 2024 has been concluded and as per the available data, the cutoff ranged between 30751.6 and 1413411 for the General AI category candidates. Wherein, the B.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering was the most competitive course with a Last Round closing rank of 30751.6 for the General AII India category students.
DR. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University is expected to conduct a total of six rounds for CUET-UG-qualified candidates. However, the cutoff rounds are conducted as per seat availability. If seats are available after AKTU round six of the counselling process, the University will release the special round to fulfil their vacant seats.
AKTU BTech admission is entrance-based and done based on JEE Mains and UPTAC. The minimum percentage required in Class 12 to apply for the course ranges between 45% and 75%. Hence, 60% is a safe score in most cases, as long as you also clear the selection criteria. AKTU offers various UG and PG courses based on IPU CET exam through its affiliated colleges. In connection to it, the university has released the cutoff for various All India and Home State quotas. AKTU Lucknow offers financial assistance in the form of scholarships to meritorious students belonging to the reserved category under the UP State Scholarship scheme regulations. Every year, the Uttar Pradesh state government releases a notification about fee reimbursement for every student of AKTU-affiliated colleges. AKTU Lucknow scholarship facilities for UG and PG students help the students with financial assistance and reward academic performance.
Students enrolled in AKTU get access to register themselves for AKTU fee-waiver scholarship schemes through the scheme of the Scholarship & Fee Reimbursement Online System of UP State. AKTU Fee-waiver Scholarship Schemes Eligibility Candidates must be enrolled in UG course at any of AKTU-affiliated colleges Candidates should be from SC, ST, or OBC category The family income of the candidate should not be more than INR 1 Lacs per annum In addition to this, AKTU Scholarship is entitled to provide financial assistance to its MTech students.
To be eligible for this Stipend, only one condition is there. He or she must have qualified for the GATE entrance exam. Candidates enrolled in the Ph.D. programme at AKTU on a regular basis are eligible for a monthly stipend of INR 31,000 from MHRD for the first two years of the programme and a monthly stipend of INR 35,000 for the next three years of the course of study; after completing five years, if students are still working on their Doctoral degree, then they are provided monthly financial assistance of INR 12,000 for only one year. Ph.D. scholars are eligible for Stipend only if they have qualified for national-level entrance examinations such as UGC/ CSIR NET (JRF) examination, SET, GATE (with a valid score), or Teacher Research Fellowship.
AKTU BTech 2026 FAQs
NTA has announced the JEE Main 2026 exam date for Session 2. JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam will be held from 2nd April 2026 to 9th April 2026. The JEE Main Application Form 2026 for Session 2 will be available on the website.
CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in May/June for 37 subjects. The mode of examination is CBT (Computer Based Test). NTA did not release official notification for CUET UG date sheet. Candidates can know exam details through CUET UG information bulletin. NTA will conduct CUET UG 2026 exam in multiple phases depending upon the number of candidates registering for the exam. Registered candidates can know the exact CUET UG exam on hall ticket. Candidates will have to report at the alloted exam centre on the day of the examination. The exam will be held in two slots each day depending upon the subject combinations chosen by the candidate.

The selection of candidates to AKTU's BTech programme is based on their UPSEE ranks. The counselling process is also managed and regulated by UPSEE based on which the candidates are allotted seats. AKTU provides lateral entry admissions to its BTech course through CUET UG. Through lateral entry, candidates are admitted directy to the second year of BTech. Candidates with a valid CUET UG score can apply for the counselling process if they fulfil the below-given eligibility criteria:
- A 3/4-year Diploma with at least 45% (40% for SC/ST candidates) aggregate from an institution recognised by the UP Board of Technical Education (BTEUP) in any stream of Engineering (except Agriculture Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture), OR
- A BSc degree from a recognised university as defined by UGC, with at least 45% (40% for SC/ST candidates) and Class 12 with Mathematics as a subject (will be allotted if seats remain vacant after Diploma holders), OR
- A pass in the DVoc stream in the same or allied sector from an institution recognised by
BTEUP or equivalent
