Adamas University launches West Bengal's first Work-Linked Campus Degree Programmes in partnership with TeamLease EdTech

Adamas University has partnered with TeamLease EdTech to launch three Work-Linked Campus Degree Programmes (WLDPs) — a first for any university in West Bengal. Kolkata, 8 April 2026: Adamas University has partnered with TeamLease EdTech to launch three Work-Linked Campus Degree Programmes ( WLDPs) — a first for any university in West Bengal. What makes these programmes different is straightforward: students don't have to wait until after graduation to start working. They study on campus, work with actual employers, and get paid a stipend while doing it.

Three new programmes let students earn a degree, build real work experience, and receive a monthly stipend — all at the same time. The three programmes on offer are:

  •  B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (Business Application)
  • B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (FinTech)
  • BBA E-commerce
The timing matters. Only 4.2% of Indians between the ages of 15 and 59 have received any formal vocational or technical training. That disconnect between getting a degree and actually being ready for a job is something students — and employers — feel every year. These programmes are built around closing that gap.

The model rests on two ideas that sound simple but rarely get delivered together. First, students earn while they learn, taking on structured employment during their degree rather than after it. Second, they learn by doing — workplace exposure isn't an add-on or an optional internship, it's woven into how the curriculum works.

This isn't an online or distance programme. Students are on campus, attending classes, working with industry partners, and building a professional track record before they've even graduated. The approach also aligns with NEP 2020's push to bring vocational training inside mainstream degree structures.

Adamas University — with its 120-acre campus near Kolkata and more than 10,000 students — is among the first universities in the country to bring this model into full-time, on-campus education.
Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Chancellor of Adamas University, said: "We're bringing together academic excellence and real industry exposure in a single framework. The goal is for students to graduate with both knowledge and genuine experience."
Shantanu Rooj, Founder & CEO of TeamLease EdTech, added: "Learning and work shouldn't be two separate phases of life. This model makes them run in parallel — and that's what makes graduates truly ready from day one."
