As a significant step towards creating India’s deep-tech ecosystem, Chandigarh University (CU) has unveiled its plans to set up India’s First Center of Excellence (COE) for Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) & GPUs, as well as North India’s First Quantum Reference Facility.

These innovative projects are being developed through a collaborative effort between CU and top players in the quantum technology domain, QBIT Force and Qubitech. This development marks another milestone in Chandigarh University’s continued efforts to promote scientific research, innovations, and technological sovereignty in the quantum computing domain.

Fueling India’s Quantum Future

The new COE will play an instrumental role in developing next-gen computing technologies based on quantum processing units and high-performance GPUs. Students, researchers, and industry experts will benefit from an environment dedicated to advanced studies in quantum processing.

North India’s First Quantum Reference Facility will allow access to a unique range of tools and equipment required to conduct quantum experiments, simulations, and applications. It is expected that this initiative will drive significant advancements in several domains, including cryptography, optimisation, artificial intelligence, and complex system modelling.

Industry Partnerships for Practical Innovations

The collaborative effort with QBIT Force and Qubitech will bring global expertise and industry insights to the campus. The joint project is expected to facilitate the practical implementation of theoretical research findings while providing students with ample opportunities to hone their skills with emerging technologies.

The result will be the creation of a skilled workforce that can contribute significantly to India’s growing quantum technology aspirations.
