Keynote Address by Chief Guest
Addressing more than 1,300 freshers, Dr. Pandurangan Basumani highlighted the indispensable role of Allied Health Professionals in today's healthcare ecosystem, stating that healthcare is not a one-man show but a team effort. He noted that quality patient care depends on the seamless collaboration of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, public health professionals, medical technologists, and other allied health experts.
Encouraging the incoming batch to approach their profession with purpose, Dr. Basumani urged them to do the small things in a great way, emphasising that excellence is built through consistent dedication. Stressing that a career in healthcare begins with caring, he advised them to remain compassionate, stand beside their patients through every stage of care, and recognise that empathy is as important as clinical competence.
Referring to India's growing burden of liver diseases, Dr. Basumani underscored the need for highly skilled multidisciplinary healthcare teams capable of addressing the nation's evolving healthcare challenges. He encouraged the future healthcare professionals to remain curious, embrace lifelong learning, and contribute to research and innovation that will strengthen the country's healthcare system.
