CUSAT admission to BTech course is based on CUSAT CAT score. The university also conducts a Lateral Entry Test (LET) to select candidates for BTech (LE) courses. LET is a three-hour test including 200 objective-type questions designed to test proficency in English, Mathematics, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Graphics and General Engineering.
The university selects candidates for BTech (PT) courses based on merit in the last qualifying exam and admission test conducted by the department. CUSAT also considers the number of years of experience of candidates after obtaining the diploma.
CUSAT is an autonomous university owned by the state government. CUSAT has been ranked 34 among the top Universities in India and 51 in the Overall category by NIRF 2024. Cochin University of Science and Technology Kochi is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). CUSAT courses include 24 Undergraduate (UG), 55 Postgraduate (PG) and 9 MPhil and 28 PhD programmes in various streams. CUSAT also provides various infrastructural and academic facilities to the students and faculty members of the Institute. CUSAT is spread over an area of 180 acres.
CUSAT conducts CAT (Common Admission Test) for admissions to programmes like Law, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Marine Sciences, Humanities, Science, Medical Sciences & Technology, and Social Sciences and Technology. CUSAT CAT is a computer-based test. The multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are asked in the exam. Candidates can take this test by applying online through the university website. The CUSAT CAT 2025 exam date will be released along with the official brochure. Candidates who will appear for the exam must refer to the CUSAT 2025 syllabus and exam pattern for their preparations.
Yes, CUSAT considers Class 12 score for admission to UG courses. Aspirants need to qualify a minimum of Class 12 to apply for a UG course at CUSAT. Below are some of the CUSAT UG programme along with their Class 12 requirement:

After graduation, candidates can apply for CUSAT MBA. Below is detailed eligibility criteria:
- Aspirants who have passed a bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SEBC candidates of Kerala State who are certified as belonging to non-creamy layer) can apply for MBA programme.
- Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying degree.
