DTU Ph.D. Eligibility & Highlights 2025
DTU offers a PhD in various specialisations related to Engineering and Management across numerous modes, which are as follows: 1. Full time (with or without scholarship/self-financed or sponsored ) 2. Part-time (candidate working in an organisation that has an MOU with DTU or Faculty, or Scientist from Government undertakings and R&D labs) 3. Students who are project staff and working at a project sponsored by DST/ UGC/ Government agency 4. Academic permanent staff member of DTU 5. Those with a master's degree in the relevant discipline with a 55% aggregate are the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. In exceptional cases, considering BTech candidates, the qualifying marks must be 75% aggregate with a record of sound, valuable research activities. DTU conducts a screening test and an Interview to offer admission to PhD. However, those with UGC NET / CSIR NET / DBT/ JRF qualified candidates are exempted from the PhD screening test. Such candidates have to appear in the interview round only. The eligibility and more details of the course are given below:

DTU admission for the flagship BTech programme is based on JEE Main scores, and the entire counselling process is conducted by JAC Delhi. Further, DTU admission to all the remaining courses is mostly based on national/ university-level entrance exams, such as UCEED, GATE, CAT, MAT and CMAT, among others. However, a few MBA specialised courses and BBA admission are based on a past qualifying exam (UG level), followed by an interview round.
Delhi Technological University (DTU) is definitely a Tier 1 college. DTU was established in 1941, and the oldest IIT was established around 1951. DTU Delhi is accredited by the NAAC with an ‘A+’ grade and a CGPA of 3.47 out of 4.0. It is also approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE. DTU College is ranked 62 under the Overall category by NIRF 2025, 42 under the University category by NIRF 2025, and 30 under the Engineering category by NIRF 2025. The university is ISO-certified and was earlier affiliated with the University of Delhi. DTU is also quite famous for its placements. The highest international and domestic packages offered during DTU placements 2025 were INR 1.8 Crore per Annum and INR 85 LPA, respectively.

No, DTU direct admission is not possible, as the University doesn't offer admission through the Management quota, and admission is completely entrance-based. Check out the pointers below to view what all exams are accepted by DTU for admission:
- BE/ BTech: JEE Main + JAC Delhi counselling
- MBA: CAT/ MAT, followed by CMAC
- B.Des: UCEED + Counselling
An admitted candidate can withdraw his/her admission during the counselling period by submitting online request through JAC Delhi portal on or before last
date of withdrawal mentioned in counselling schedule.
a) If the candidate withdraws his/her admission on or before the last date of counselling schedule, his Seat Acceptance Fee (INR 95,000) will be refunded without interest after deducting INR1000 as processing charge.
b) Fee refunds for all withdrawals will be processed within 20 days after last date of withdrawal
The selection of the candidates at DTU for MBA admission will be made on the basis of one or more of the following:
- Work experience
- Academic performance
- Personal interview
