Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is DTU as good as an IIT?
A:

DTU's BTech in Civil Engineering course has been rated 4.2/5 by 95 Shiksha verified students, while the same course at IIT Delhi has been rated 4.6/5 by 41 students at Shiksha. Also, as per the NIRF 2024 Rankings, Delhi Technological University has been ranked 27 under the 'Engineering' category, however, there are many IITs that are ranked before DTU in the same category. But, despite that, DTU competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in streams such as Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. Hence, it is safe to say that DTU is as good as a second-phase IIT or an NIT.

My college life in Delhi Technological University, East Delhi.
Placements: Total about 180 students are placed for my course, i.e., B.A. Economics Honours. It started in 2025 for my batch and will end in 2029, as it is a 4-year programme which offers Economics with options such as Data Science and Management. One can choose between the two of them.
Infrastructure: The campus is not big; it is below the average size of a college. The infrastructure is fine. I am disappointed with the canteen as there is none apart from Nescafe, so no healthy option for eating. Wi-Fi is mediocre, classrooms are nice, and they have AC, so it’s good.
Faculty: Teachers are nice and helpful. They are qualified and knowledgeable as well. The curriculum is great, it is specially made keeping in mind the new technological advancement and changes. The end semester exams are a bit tough, otherwise, it is good.
Other: I chose this course because I am highly interested in it. The canteen can be improved, and other things are good.

It is good not to know about the classes but you will never get bored on campus.
Placements: Almost 80 percent of students from the chemical engineering branch got on campus placement. The highest package offered is 32 LPA and the lowest package offered is 7 LPA. The average package is 10.5LPA. Bharat Petroleum, Reliance. 65 percent student got internships mostly in Infosys. You can use labs whenever you want.
Infrastructure: Overall college infrastructure is great but the boys hostel for the first year is very bad. The classroom, library, and labs are all fine but Wi-Fi sports are good. You can play anything medical facilities are not good. The classrooms are crazy washrooms are clean and everything is hygienic.
Faculty: Do not worry about attendance just make sure you attend labs because you can learn that from anywhere else. You will find something happening in every corner, someone dancing, someone singing, too many monkeys are there but all friendly until you show them food.
Other: You will find every type of crowd here. Most professors will be friends with lab assistants.

DTU East Delhis faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: The number of students placed is 60 in each class and the average package that comes with it ranges from 3 LPA to 12 LPA. Around 30 offers are being placed by the company for each course and for that you need to get more than 7.5 CGPA. Companies that come are EY, KPMG etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good enough. There are centralized AC and a theater in each classroom in order to ensure that there is a safe and comfortable environment in all seasons and because of this we are also able to concentrate more on our studies.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and they teach very well whenever we need to ask anything or xyz doubts they are always available. This really helps us in situations when you are new to college or you live at a distance from the college. Overall they are pretty good.
Other: I chose this course because I really have interest in Economics from my 12th class only and I wanted to explore more of it.

I hope all things improve in future.
Placements: There are 60 students in 3 sections of the B.A.E. course. The highest package offered is 13 LPA and the lowest package offered is 3 LPA. The placement is done by giving internships. Samadra Foundation and EY are top recruiting companies. In the last year the college got 40 offers for placement for the economics honours course.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi is available in the college easily. There is no hostel available in the college but PGs are available around the college. The college has a library, reading area, Nescafe. The main problem is that the college does not have a canteen for now which is a serious problem.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified and we can easily ask questions to them also. The curriculum is nice and informative. There are 2 main exams in 1 semester. The papers are made by teachers itself and if often moderate if you have taken the classes.

Insights of a well-defined college campus.
Placements: In our college, the batch size is 180/200 students, with 50-60 placed in every class. The top recruitment companies for the course BBA are Deloitte, BCG, Flipkart, and the placement percentage varies a lot, but generally strong, with around 70-90%, sometimes higher.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is well-built. The classes have well-defined desks and chairs, a clean blackboard, and projectors. The library maintained. We also have a badminton court and volleyball and basketball courts for students to play.
Faculty: Teachers and staff of the college are very dedicated and perform well in their jobs. Everyone is very helpful and provides very useful knowledge to students, and guides them well. The course curriculum is relevant and teaches the student an insight into the world out there when it comes to business. The semester exams are well built to check the students' knowledge.
Other: I chose this course as there is a lot of scope with business studies and various fields that you can enter according to your shared interests, like finance, marketing, HR, and many more. Events are well held, and the fests are appreciated very much. The crowd is also very interactive.

Q:   Which college is better to pursue BTech in Mechanical Engineering among DTU and NSIT?
A:
As confirmed by a final-year Mechanical undergraduate at DTU-Professors, academics, labs and everything else may be comparable but you aren't going to study all the time. So, when it comes to activities outside the classroom, DTU trumps NSIT easily. Be it curricular fests, sports activities, cultural societies, lenient environment, better infrastructure or even campus as a whole, DTU is far better than NSIT. And taking into consideration the reputation and demand of Mechanical, DTU's Mechanical Engineering stream trumps NSIT's. Even in the field of placements, companies prefer DTU over NSIT for the recruitment of Mechanical Engineering. NSIT needs time to set up its brand when it comes to Mechanicals. '
