For admission to most of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered at Delhi Technological University, students need to score 50% to 60% minimum total in their last qualifying degree or course to be eligible. No, DTU does not conduct any entrance exam of its own for admission to any of the UG, PG or doctoral-level courses. Admission for the flagship BTech programme is based on JEE Main scores and the entire process of counselling are conducted by JAC Delhi. Further, DTU admission to all the remaining courses is mostly based on national/ university-level entrance exams, such as UCEED,  GATE,  CAT,  MAT and CMAT, among others. However, there are a few MBA specialised courses and BBA, admission to which is offered based on the past qualifying exam  (UG level) followed by an interview round. 

JEE Main rank is accepted by both DTU and IIT Delhi, followed by the JAC Delhi counselling process for admission to various BTech specialisations. According to the JAC Delhi Round 4 cutoff 2026, the closing rank for CSE admission for the General HS category was 14806. While for IIIT Delhi, it was 1129.

Therefore, going by the cutoffs for both institutions, DTU is relatively easier for CSE admissions. Candidates who qualified for DTU can view other parameters to make an informed decision.

Yes, it is possible. While DTU accepts CAT/ MAT or CMAT scores for admission to two of the MBA programmes. While admission to MBA in Family Business & Entrepreneurship and MBA in Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Venture Development depends on the candidates' performance at the undergraduate level and in the interview conducted by the university campus.

 For the remaining MBA courses, performance in CAT/ MAT or CMAT is considered along with students' performance in the last qualifying degree and interview conducted at the university-level. Also, all the candidates must complete the eligibility for admission:

No, candidates cannot get admission to DTU without appearing for JEE Main as the DTU BTech counselling is done through JAC Delhi. The basic criteria for admission to BTech is appearing for JEE Mains. To get into DTU, candidates must score decent marks or at least around 220 or above marks in JEE Mains. The only way to get into DTU without appearing for JEE Main is by taking a lateral entry admission to BTech second year. In order to do this, candidates must complete a Polytechnic course of two years and then appear for an entrance exam (not JEE Main but this exam will give you entry in DTU's second year.

Admission to the BBA programme at DTU is subject to a merit list drawn on the basis of scores obtained by the students in best of four subjects of Class 12. Students, however, must have completed their Class 12 with 50% aggregate (with English as a subject) to be eligible for the course. Additionally, those appearing in the final exams of their Class 12 can also apply provided they can submit the proof of eligibility as per the date set by the university. Hence, yes, it is possible to get into DTU with 85% in Class 12 provided a student is shortlisted while creation of the merit list.

With a JEE Main rank between 30000 and 40000, it is not possible to get admission to any of the BTech branches for the General AI category. For BTech admission, the DTU JEE Main cutoff 2026 for Round 1 ranged between 12 and 15709 for students belonging to the General AI quota. So, candidates seeking admission must target a cutoff rank of up to 15000 and below to secure a seat at this institute. 

Delhi Technological University (DTU) is definitely a Tier 1 college. DTU was established in 1941, and the oldest IIT was established around 1951. Usually, the cutoff for DTU stays around 90, even for the reserved categories. Therefore, getting into B.Tech courses at DTU is difficult with a JEE Main percentile score of 90 or below. The cutoff also goes high and low every year, depending on the following factors: Number of aspirants registered, The difficulty level of the exam, Total number of seats available, total number of applications received for a particular program, and the category under which admission is sought. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict the exact cutoff and give an exact answer to this question.

• For BTech, students can apply via the JAC Delhi website, i.e. jacdelhi.nic.in. Registration via JAC Delhi is a  two-step online process where students have to fill out the online application form and then make the payment of the application fee.
