The cutoff marks of Guwahati University vary from course to course. The university has provided minimum qualifying cutoff marks for admission to a majority of courses offered by Guwahati University. Candidates must have at least 45 percent aggregate in their UG programme to become eligible for the PG programme. For the M.Tech programme, candidates must have secured at least 50 percent aggregate and for MEd and Integrated MSc-PhD, students just need a relevant UG degree to be eligible.
Guwahati University has released merit lists 2023 for admission to various PG and Integrated programmes, including MA, MTech, MSc, MCom, MBA, BA LLB and BA LLB (Hons). The university has released the merit lists based on the candidate's score in the entrance exam and qualifying exam. Candidates with their names in the merit lists are provisionally admitted to the respective programmes. The selected candidates need to report to the university campus within the due date.

For admission to the B.Ed programme, the university conducts the various exam. To become eligible for the B.Ed programme, candidate must have passed a degree in graduation in the relevant stream ( BA /BSc /BCom or MA /MSc /MCom or equivalent) from a recognised institute. Also, the candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50 percent (45 percent for the reserved candidates) with all the subjects put together, candidates who are appearing for the final year examination can also apply for the test.
The modes of Gauhati University course admissions are online and offline. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The cut off changes every year. Hence, the students must visit the official website of the university and check the updated cut off. In general, the basic eligibility criteria involves passing Class 12 with a minimum of 40% to 55% aggregate (depending on the selected course). For postgraduate courses, the basic eligibility criteria involves pass in bachelor's course with a minimum of 45%-60% aggregate (depending on the selected course). The accepted entrance exams are MAT, CMAT, CAT, CMAT, and others.
Gauhati University offers BTech in multiple specialisations. BTech admission at Gauhati University is entrance-based, subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria require the applicants to have passed Class 12 with an aggregate of at least 50%, with PCM and English as compulsory subjects. The minimum aggregate required for the SC and ST categories in Class 12 is 45% and 40%, respectively. Only candidates scoring over the minimum aggregate required for their category can apply for admission at the university for BTech. Other candidates can explore other college and universities offering offline and online BTech courses.
Gauhati University recognises both state and central board scores for admission into the BSc programme. Some of the boards include CBSE, AHSEC, ISCE, ISC etc. Candidates can apply for admission at the university if they have secure a minimum aggregate of 40% from a state or central recognised board. The admission into the programme take place through the CUET-UG entrance exam. So, Candidates will have to appear for that exam once they have cleared their Class 12.
The academic year for BSc in Gauhati University commences in September. The admissions process goes on from to September with applications starting in January with CUET exam and the finalisation of all admissions ending in August after the announcement of the CUET results. Candidates are required to have a valid CUET-UG exam score to be eligible for admission into the programme.
If we take into account the amount of specialisations offered and the affiliated colleges that provide the BSc programme we will see that Gauhati University provides 18,189 seats cumulatively. As the seats are spread over various specialisations and affiliated colleges, candidates will have to check the university website at the time of admission to see the available BSc seats at the university or desired college.
To be eligible for BTech at Guwahati University, candidates must have the following:
- They must be a citizen of India
- The age of the candidates must be between 17-21 years. There is a relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit available for SC/ST candidates.
- Must have passed Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate with PCM and English as subjects (45% for SC and 40% for ST)
In addition to the regular four-year BTech, the university also offers direct admission to the second year of BTech via lateral entry. For this option, students must meet the below eligibility criteria:
- 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent/ BSc in relevant branch
- Those with a BSc degree must have Mathematics at Class 12 level

No, Gauhati University BSc admission takes place through the merit secured in the CUET entrance exam. Thus it is necessary to take those entrance exams to be eligible for admission into the BSc programme. Class 12 exam score only makes a candidate eligibile for BSc admission and does not secure direct admission into the university. Gauhati University admission are only finalised when candidates have paid some amount of the tuition fees.
Gauhati University MBA admission is not based on the applicant's merit in graduation. Candidates with a valid score in MAT/CAT/XAT/CMAT/other national-level exam can get admission at the university for an MBA. However, the university has specified a minimum eligibility requirement for MBA admission. Candidates with an aggregate score of at least 50% (45% for reserved categories) in bachelor's degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for the programme. Hence, a candidate scoring less than 60% in graduation can get admission to Guwahati University for MBA, subject to their performance in the entrance exam. In case a candidate fails to secure a seat for a regular MBA, they can check out the colleges/institutes offering online MBA courses.
Yes, as BSc admission takes place through the score and rank secured in CUET entrance exam, the candidate has to apply for the exam to gain admission into the programme. Gauhati University does not accept or conduct any other exam for admission into the BSc programme. In addition to that, candidates should also have a minimum aggregate of 40% in their Class 12 to be eligible for admission into the Gauhati University BSc programme.
The CAT exam is always conducted on the last Sunday of November every year so the CAT 2024 exam will be conducted on November 24, 2024. Official announcement of the CAT 2024 exam date will be made by the convening IIM on July 30, 2024. The announcement will be made at the iimcat.ac.in website as well as in all the national dailies across India. We at Shiksha have also notify the aspirants through our communication channels. Registrations cum application process for CAT 2024 will begin from the first week of August and end in the third week of September 2024.

Yes bro you can do Bca by any stream but it is more easy to you if you have CS or ip in your 11 and 12. Because I was by pcm with physical education and it's hard for me to learn languages
