You must join one of the premium institutes of India with world-class facilities.
Placements: Above 70% of students get placed in my specialization. The highest package is around 40 LPA, the average package is 12 LPA, and the lowest can reach up to 7-8 LPA. Top recruiters are Bajaj, Reliance, Texas Instruments, Switch Mobility, and many more companies. 3-4 students get internships out of 14 students from my specialisation in Ola, Eaton, TVS, and Texas Instruments.
Infrastructure: In IIT Guwahati, there are world-class facilities. There is one big central library with 4 floors and a huge seating area for every student, and Wi-Fi is free across the campus. AC and non-AC classrooms are also available. Labs are present with all the equipment. In my hostel, everything is present, like a separate library apart from the central library, a music room, a TV room, and Ethernet ports available in each and every room. The quality of food is great. If you don't like your hostel food, you can change to another hostel mess, but the quality of food is great.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. Everyone has done their Ph.D., and this is the minimum criteria. They are very helpful and available for any kind of doubt, from personal life to course-related matters. They help out with any problem. The course curriculum is very relevant because companies come for direct roles by branch, and placements are above 85% for Power Engineering. Semesters are difficult. You have to work very hard to stand out in class. There is no fixed pass percentage. It is relatively graded, but you have to score more than 40 percent.

IIT Guwahati is one of the top 10 colleges in India, with a vibrant campus of 700 acres.
Placements: In my department, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, in the power engineering specialisation, there is an 80 percent placement rate, but in other branches overall it is as low as 40 percent. In my specialisation, the highest package is 40 LPA by Texas Industries, and the average is 12 LPA. 5 students got internships out of 13 in different companies like Eaton, TVS, Texas Industries, and OLA. The top roles offered are as power electronics engineer.
Infrastructure: The whole campus is covered by free Wi-Fi. There is a big library called the Central Library. Every hostel has its own library, gym, music room, and sports rooms. Every hostel provides these facilities. AC classrooms are available. The quality of food is great every day you will get eggs, paneer, fruits, and other items changes daily. Every hostel has a three-mess facility, canteen, and juice centre. IIT Guwahati has its own hospital with every facility, and it is free of cost.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and have a minimum of PhD holders from top IIT's and NITs. They are very helpful and available for any doubt, from career to personal life. The course is very relevant. The company directly comes for this role they are teaching, and it makes students industry-ready. The semesters are difficult. There are 4 semesters. In M.Tech course, 2 semesters are there, and the remaining two semesters we have to work on a project under a teacher. After completion, we get a degree. There is 100 percent pass percentage and it has the greatest faculty members in India
Other: I just wanted to do a Master's from IIT. The best things about this course is that it gives training that is directly required for company roles. Everything in this course is already perfect because our seniors get 100 percent placement. There are different types of events and fests cultural fest (Alcheringa), technical fest (Techniche), and sports fests. There are two types of sports fests one, Spardha, and the other, Spirit. Spirit is one of the biggest sports festivals of the Northeast, organized by IIT Guwahati every year.

One of the best institutes in India.
Placements: In our institute, 100 percent of students are placed. The highest package paid is 12 LPA and the lowest falls between 6 LPA and 8 LPA. Recruiting companies are Jspider and Qspider. Many of our seniors are getting internship offers from ITK, Jspider, etc. Two roles offered are developer, tester, and permit engineer.
Infrastructure: Our institute has a very average campus in terms of infrastructure. Still, a few of our classrooms do not have any smart board and Wi-Fi enablement. The hostel provides good facilities and serves very delicious food items. In our hostel, 24/7 medical facilities are available.
Faculty: All the teachers are erudite. They are very friendly in nature and always encouraged students to study well. They have established friendships with some students, meaning they act like friends. Not a single teacher forcefully takes the class they are always in a good mood and love to take classes for students.

Review of IIT Guwahati's beauty in 2026.
Placements: Placements here are average. Many companies come here as it's a tier-one college. The other side is that the number of companies visiting the college is slightly decreasing due to the recession and AI evolution. Otherwise, placements here are good in tech as well as in non-tech roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is old here, but new hostels are also available. Since Guwahati is an earthquake-prone area, many buildings have cracks in them. One hostel got vacated due to that, so buildings here are quite old. New buildings are under construction, and many have been built too.
Faculty: Faculty members and course curriculum are excellent here, as IIT Guwahati is known for its research. The course curriculum gets changed to align with the modern needs of companies. Semester exams are kind of tough here to maintain the standard of exams.

Really beautiful campus- IITG.
Placements: A batch of 17 students graduated in 2026. This was the first batch of energy engineering to pass out from IITG. I have heard placements of a few of them. I'm expecting around 10-12 students to get placed. The highest package might be around 40 LPA, and the average might be 15 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are poor, definitely below average. The girls' hostel is slightly better. The library and academic blocks are maintained well in our college. It has good research facilities. Mess is also good for the price we pay. It's very cheap. The campus also has a 24/7 hospital. They provide us with medical insurance, too. Medicine is free up to 2 LPA.
Faculty: The difficulty of the course and its exams depends mainly on the professor. Some of them are very strict, some are lenient. The curriculum is relevant. First-year courses are mostly common. From the second year onwards, the courses related to your branch will be taught. The pass percentage is normally high.

College Life at India's Most Beautiful Campus.
Placements: Placements at IIT Guwahati are excellent, especially in the tech field, with high placement rates and strong average packages, generally 30 LPA. Top companies regularly visit the campus. After completing the course, if I do not get placed on campus, which is hardly possible, I'll look for other off-campus placements.
Infrastructure: At the IIT Guwahati campus, life is vibrant with active clubs and major fests like Alcheringa and Techniche. Social life is so strong through hostel interactions, and infrastructure is modern and well - equipped. At IIT Guwahati, nightlife is moderate and mostly campus-based. Students stay active late with hostel hangout and night canteens, gaming, group studies, etc. However, outside options are limited due to the remote location, so it's not like city nightlife in metro cities.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:12 - 1:15, with overall faculty interaction as decent, with many professors available for any kind of help. The institute has highly qualified faculty, especially in the teaching field. Each semester includes mid-term exams, end-term exams, with quizzes and assignments, and the difficulty range from moderate to high, but can be managed through consistency.
Other: I chose IIT Guwahati because of a strong IIT brand, excellent placements, and comparatively lower fees. Compared to other IIT's, it provided a good campus experience and less academic pressure. Compared to other NIT's, private colleges, IIT Guwahati stands out in every field. If one couldn't make it to the IITs, it's because one is not eligible after the JEE Advanced rank, as competition is very intense. The admission process involves JEE Advanced after qualifying JEE Main, followed by centralized counseling through JoSAA.
