Indian Writing in English are notable literary works in English language written by authors who are of Indian origin. It began during the colonial period of India when English as a language was introduced to India. It has a unique style of writing. These writings though written in English have Indian influence, especially influence of regional and colloquial lqnguages. Mulk Raj Anand is known as the father of Indian English Literature. 'The Serpent and The Rope ' by Raja Rao, 'Gitanjali' by Ranindranath Tagore and 'The Guide' by R.K Narayan are some famous literary works of Indian Writing in English Genre.

American Literature and British Literature are popular all across the globe. Both these Literatures are a major part of BA English Literature course. Given below are some of the major differences between the British Literature and American Literature:

• Language and Style: Both these literatures are written in English language. However, the spelling of words and general vocabulary used are different from each other.
• Historical Context: The British Literature is much older than the American Literature. Some of the oldest writings of British Literature can be found in 1100 AD.
• Themes: The British Literature focuses on subjects such as class, empire, countryside and tradition whereas he American Literature focuses on subjects like identity, migrants, racial differences and boundaries.
• Cultural Influences: The British Literature is usually based on collective identity whereas the American Literature is based on individualism.

There are several higher study options for meritorious graduates in English language and literature, such as journalism and mass communication; management; tourism administration; law; international relations; linguistics; communication management; film editing and direction; visual communication; and library and information science and forms of creative arts like drama and cinema. You can explore the option of doing some specialised post graduate courses for which graduation is needed in the field of media, multimedia, public relations, foreign languages, teaching, social work, finance, retail, design, hospitality, stocks, aviation etc. based on your interests and strengths. If you have a flair for writing, have good communication skills and a reading habit, journalism or mass communication is a good choice. You could also opt for academic careers like teaching and research and particularly training. English language training is a big and growing sector in India with jobs freelance and full-time options as an English language trainer or a voice and accent trainer.
