HPNLU Admission Process 2025
CLAT registration for HPNLU admissions usually starts in January & May every year. The total intake for UG courses is 180. Below is a detailed breakdown of the HPNLU admission process:-
Step 1: HPNLU Application Process 2025
Applicants must apply for CLAT in order to be admitted to NLU Shimla for the BA LLB (Hons), BSc LLB (Hons), or LLM programs.
Step 2: HPNLU Selection Process 2025
The selection for UG and LLM courses is based on CLAT scores. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs). The university conducts an entrance exam for admission to PhD course.
Step 3: Admission Confirmation
CLAT aspirants are selected for NLU Shimla via CLAT Counselling. Candidates scoring equal or above the HPNLU cutoff are allotted seats in the university.

Candidates are shortlisted for NLU Shimla LLM course based on their score in Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT). It is a pen and paper based examination. The exam duration is two hours. There is no other provision for admission at NLUs. Moreover, after the entrance test, candidates who meet the cutoff mark can participate in the CLAT counselling.
The admission process of Himachal Pradesh National Law University involves the following steps:-

BA- LLB (Hons) is a five-year integrated programme offered by HPNLU. Out of 120 seats, 25% of the seats are reserved for the Himachal Pradesh Domicile Candidates. Candidates are offered seat in BA LLB (Hons) based on CLAT score. Besides, aspirants must also pass Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% in case of SC/ ST candidates) to apply for the course.

HPNLU offers a five-year integrated BBA LLB (Hons) programme at the UG level.
