    Q:   How is the placement facility at IIT Bombay?
    A: 

    The average and median packages offered during IIT Bombay placements 2024 stood at INR 23.5 LPA and INR 17.92 LPA, respectively. The overall placement rate recorded during IIT Bombay placements 2024 was 74.53% with 1,475 students participating in the process out of 1,979 students. A total of 930 students registered,  819 students participated and 683 students were placed durinng BTech placements 2024. The placement percentage went this low because of minimal or no participation in the placement process from over 400 students. Most of them went for higher studies, such as MS / MTech / PhD and MBA courses, while many opted for entrepreneurship or civil services.

    Q:   How is the MA in Research at IIT Bombay?
    A: 
    The HSS department at IITBombay is introducing the Master of Arts by Research (MA. Res) with precisely this emphasis. The faculty members in the department represent diverse areas of expertise and have considerable experience teaching with an emphasis on research skills while accommodating disciplinary crossovers with ease. This is especially important since many of the concerns of the Humanities and Social Sciences requireamulti-disciplinary approach. Our students have been successful both in working at the interfaces of different areas and in transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries in their work. The programme combines course work to build student competence in specific areas, research training, and researchmodules for independent work. Students are expected to carry out a successful programme of research within the duration of the programme. The internal structure of the programme is designed to be quite different from course intensive postgraduate programmes and allows for relative flexibility interms of student backgrounds and prior training

Further, an improving trend was witnessed in the highest international package offered over the past three years during IIT Bombay placements.     Q:   Is it compulsory to stay in hostel in IIT Bombay?
    A: 

    No, it’s not compulsory for regular scholars to stay in the hostel for studying at IIT Bombay. Also, not every student gets a hostel facility. However, students who get enrolled in summer and winter internships have to stay in a hostel during the tenure of their internship. Interns who get the hostel are required to complete the formalities such as registration, payment of internship fees, etc., with the academic office of the institute.

    IIT JAM is the entrance exam for MSc admission at IIT Bombay. To get a call from IIT Bombay, the students must secure a rank of up to 712 for MSc admission. This required rank is valid for the General AI category students. For other categories, the cutoff rank will be different.     Q:   What is the eligibility criteria of MA by Research offered by IIT Bombay?
    A: 

    Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree (BA/ BCom or other degrees) or a four-year BA, BS, BTech or an earlier postgraduate degrees such as MA, MSc, etc. with a minimum of 60% aggregate for GN/ EWS/ OBC (NC) and 55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD can apply for MA by Research. Aspirants shall keep the documents for verification ready at the time of admission as well.

    Q:   Does IIT Bombay accept GATE Score?
    A: 

    Yes, IIT Bombay accept GATE scores for the admission to M.S/ M.Tech courses for various All India categories. Further, as per the IIT Bombay cutoff 2024, the last-round ranged between 325 and 725 for the General AI category candidates. Among all the categories, the most difficult course to get into IIT Bombay was M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering having a last-round cutoff 750.

    Q:   What is the cutoff mark for IIT Bombay through the IIT JAM, GATE and CAT for All India category students?

    IIT Bombay offers admission to various PG courses on the various exams. MSc course is offered through IIT JAM. For the General All India category students, the last round closing ranks were between 17 and 40

    IIT Bombay GATE COAP cutoff 2024 were between scores 325 and 650, for the General AI category candidates.

    For admission to MBA, candidate must have a valid score in CAT. For the General AI category, the overall cutoff sores for the same was 90.

    Q:   Is there any scholarship for IIT Bombay?
    A: 

    The institute offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to a maximum of 25% of the sanctioned intake of UG and MSc students. Facilities of Free Messing is also available to SC/ ST students under which they get an exemption from paying the tuition fees. In addition, the Office of the Dean Alumni & Corporate Relations manages the Named scholarship endowed by the alumni of the Institute and other wellwishers. In order to avail of any of the offered scholarships, candidates must meet the eligibility conditions set for the respective scholarships.     Yes, students from all the streams can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore. They can fill the Joint seat allocation form if they have cleared the UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam.

    UCEED 2026 counselling will be conducted by IIT Bombay. The counselling process will have five rounds.

    UCEED 2026 Joint Admission Process will not have any spot rounds. If there are any spot counselling rounds, it will be notified.

    No, IIT Bombay will not send the hard copies of CEED 2026 Scorecard. The scorecard of CEED will be issued only in online mode. The candidate has to download it from the CEED admission portal - ceed.iitb.ac.in. To download the scorecard, log in by entering your email id and password.
