Really good college with impeccable infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: Though Jadavpur University has a very active placement cell, yet it is limited to the engineering faculty. The Arts faculty placement cell is relatively dormant, and have had visits from few media companies only. Being a student who has always been interested in academics I went on to pursue higher studies in other institutes for which the Jadavpur university training has been immensely helpful. I do not know about the students who got jobs or internships from university campusing. But the engineering faculty of Jadavpur University is a testament in itself of brilliant placement.

Infrastructure: As a public academic institution, Jadavpur University excels at providing its students with world class infrastructural facilities. We had well-equipped classrooms, proper medical facilities, basketball court and football ground. A properly maintained and well stocked central library along with equally efficient, specialised departmental libraries which catered to the individual needs of the students who had varied academic pursuits. Food in the canteens was good and so were the hostels. Jadavpur University is also a very spacious campus which provided its students with ample greenery and water bodies which were not only aesthetically pleasing but also a source of fresh air. It must be remembered that it is a public institution which is run with government subsidies, so the students receive all these facilities while they pain pittance as tuition fees.

Faculty: I cannot comment about Jadavpur University in its entirety, but I can say that the professors in my department, i.e. history were extremely helpful, adequately qualified and cooperative. We had both lecture and interactive classes and students were encouraged to spread their wings and follow their dreams. Jadavpur has always provided its students with rationality and has made them capable of fighting conformity and injustice. However continuous state intervention has affected the academic ambience and curriculum at times.Though that inconvenience has mostly concerned the administrative sector but the students suffered as well. The curriculum was intellectually stimulating and has been immensely helpful not only in academics but also in every step of life.

It provides quality education at a small fee structure.

Placements: We do not have such placement policies. Many students opt for higher studies. Courses offered for bachelor's degrees do prepare us to get into our dream institutions for higher studies and to crack UGC NET during or after our masters for PhD.

Infrastructure: The library and classrooms are great. Our departmental library and central library have a lot of books which help us to gain knowledge in various fields. The hostel is not that great. The only pro it has is its monthly expenditure (which approximately ranges from Rs. 1,600-2,000 per month). Wardens are not that student-friendly, and neither is the mess committee.

Faculty: Our professors are really helpful and qualified. They teach in a way that makes every topic really interesting. They help a lot to clear any kind of doubt regarding topics they teach. They also help in every way possible to make topics easier to understand. Semester exams are not that difficult if one understands subjects properly. There are no short questions. All the questions given in the exams are concept based be it internal exams or semester exams. One have to secure at least 40% to avoid the supplementary exams.
