Jamia Millia Islamia PhD Eligibility & Highlights 2025
JMI PhD admissions are based on candidates’ performance in a written test conducted by JMI, followed by an interview round and evaluation of the research proposal. Candidates have to secure at least 50% marks each in both Section A and B to qualify for the test and appear for further rounds. The following category of candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test for PhD admission:
- Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ SLET/ GATE or have completed MPhil from a recognised university/ institute
- The teacher fellowship holders provided that the competent employing authority issues a NOC to the candidate to join the PhD programme and an undertaking that the candidate will be granted leave for the duration of the required coursework

Candidates have to first create an account by filling their basic details and then fill the detailed application form, select their course, upload required documents and pay the application fee. Jamia Millia Islamia offers seat reservations in almost all the courses based on the category of the students. Candidates seeking JMI admission under the reserved category can apply for reservation under one category only and are required to fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions of the course. - 30% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for Muslim applicants. 10% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for women applicants
who are Muslims and 10% of the total number of seats in each course shall be earmarked for (OBCs) and ST students who are Muslims. - 5% of seats in all the courses are reserved for physically challenged students.
- 5% of seats in all courses must be filled by internal students of Jamia who have passed their qualifying exam from Jamia schools as regular students.

So, considering Round 1 cutoff, students seeking admission to UNIRAJ must secure over and above cutoff rank 43789 under unreserved quota.
Aspiring students are required to register on the official website of JMI and fill the application form online. In the form, fill all the details asked, upload the required documents and pay the application fee. Starting 2022, for BA, BSc and BVoc, JMI started accepting the scores of CUET UG. For the same, students need to register for the exam, appear for it and qualify it. Qualified students of CUET UG are required to register for JMI counselling after which merit lists will be released with the name of the shortlisted students. For the remaining courses, however, the university is still accepting national and university-level entrance exam for final selection.
