Q:   Is BTech at Jamia Millia Islamia good?

    A:

The answer to whether BTech from Jamia Millia Islamia is good or not depends on a lot of factors. All these factors are listed below one after another:

    • Specialisations: BTech at Jamia is available across the five most common specialisations, namely, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics & Communication and Mechanical Engineering. In a world where more in-depth specialisations, such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are trending the university still sticks to the basic courses. For students looking out for core information on the trending areas of AI and ML, it can't be considered a good option. But in case, a student wishes to stay with the traditional branches, Jamia Millia Islamia can be a good option.
    • Placements: Another factor that comes into consideration while choosing a college for a course is its return on investment value. The same can be calculated basis of the kind of placements offered to the students. As per the data collated from the verified students' reviews on Shikhsa, the majority of students mention that 70-90% of BTech students get placement opportunities from Jamia.  Additionally, the salary packages start from INR 3-4 LPA as the lowest and go up to even INR 25 Lacs per annum for some students.
    • Fee: While the general fee for BTech ranges from INR 2 to 5 Lacs per annum for colleges in India, Jamia Millia Islamia charges INR 16,150 annually for its BTech programme which is extremely low. Hence, concerning the fee, Jamia Millia Islamia is a great option for BTech.

Based on the factors mentioned above and the requirements of candidates, they can decide whether they want to go ahead with Jamia Millia Islamia for BTech or not. Read more about BTech reviews from Jamia Millia Islamia students here.

Absolutely satisfied with the university because of the fees and affordability, and the healthy food
Placements: This year's on-campus placements have been average, especially in computer engineering, where only 37 out of 83 students were placed. The main reason for the remaining students not getting placed was that a good number had backlogs. Off-campus placements have been really good, with companies like Microsoft and Amazon recruiting off-campus. This year, a 4th-year student received an internship and PPO from Microsoft. The highest and lowest packages offered on-campus were 28 LPA and 9 LPA, respectively, and the top roles offered were Graduate Engineering Trainee (GET).
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the university is really impressive. You find a lot of greenery, tall trees, and gardens everywhere. There are also a good number of canteens and cafes within walking distance, where you can easily find healthy and affordable food. The university provides Wi-Fi facilities for its students, offering around 30 Mbps speed. Classrooms are good, but there are no AC facilities for first-year students; ACs are available starting from the second year. Everyone knows about JMI's Zakir Husain Library, which contains about 5 lakh books and some ancient manuscripts.
Faculty: Jamia provides excellent professors who are highly qualified and experienced, with some having completed their PhDs from IITs. They are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to solving doubts. The examination system consists of two sessionals or mid-term exams and an end-semester or final exam at the end of the semester. The current course curriculum does make us industry-ready, but we still need to develop our skills according to today's requirements.
Other: I opted for computer engineering because I have always been fascinated by programming and tech-related topics. Before joining this course, I was clear in my mind about why I wanted to pursue computer engineering. The best aspect of this course is that it provides equal opportunities for students of other disciplines, like mechanical and civil engineering, who do not want to work in core companies but wish to transition to tech. There is room for improvement in this course because the curriculum has become outdated; topics like AI/ML, generative AI, and blockchain technology should be included. The university has been excellent in providing enjoyable opportunities for its students, such as sports fests and cultural fests. This university also assists students with scholarships and keeps us updated when any scholarship opportunities arise. The connectivity to the university is very good, with the Magenta line of Delhi Metro running through the campus, and the main metro station of Jamia Millia Islamia is located near the Centenary Gate.

Complete your BTech in just 64 thousands
Placements: The placement is quite decent. The return of investment is high as the fee is one of the lowest in India. As per my analysis the placement rate is around 75%. The highest CTC offered was around 54 LPA last year of CSE branch. Average package is around 8 LPA. Qualcomm, Nvidia, Siemens are the major recruiters in ECE. Many mass recruiters companies also take civil and mechanical students.
Infrastructure: In first year you don't get AC classrooms. But in second year CSE and ECE students get AC classrooms. Lab are also quite decent with many equipment. Hostels are also quite decent such as the new APJ Kalam hostel which is 8 floor hostel with world class facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. One of our teacher is among top 3% scientist in the world. The curriculum according to me in not up to date. I think it needs some sort of upgrades. Semester exams can be passed easily if you pay some attention during the classes.
Other: I chose this course as the return of investment is high. In just 64k you can complete your Btech. Hostel fee is around 15k for the whole year with mess fee 2600/month. You get to meet students from different parts of India and even some foreign nationals. Sports facilities is also world class with almost every sports.

Academic life, placements, hostel, and mess are up to the mark, but the fests & events are not good.
Placements: The average package of the college is 10 LPA, with a placement percentage of about 45% in the electrical branch. Our seniors did internships in companies like Nvidia, Adobe, DLF, etc. Approximately 40% of seniors secured internships. Specifically, our branch is a little behind because most people switch fields nowadays.
Infrastructure: The sports facilities of the college are very good, featuring one of the best cricket grounds in all of Delhi. The Wi-Fi range is a little less; you have to go to certain places to get the connection. The quality of the labs can also be improved. First-year classrooms are very uncomfortable.
Faculty: The course and exams are tough, but teachers are helpful. They teach what is necessary and emphasize the practicality of the knowledge rather than spending time on less important topics. Student admissions and spot rounds are ongoing, and people join even after the sessionals, which makes it very hard for them to cope.
Other: The college has various societies that emphasize individual growth, but those who are not selected in any societies find it hard to develop their social life. The events and fests are not very famous, and societies only focus on academic growth.

Placements: 55% of students were placed. The highest package was given by schneider Electric of 12 LPA in core electrical where as 12.56 was highest given by Accenture and the average package is around 6.5 LPA. Internships are bit tough to find but you can get if you work hard.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are big and nice although the chances of getting a proper functioning AC is less ,but all the labs has AC and equipments are not very good .The canteen is budget friendly. Sports complex is good with all the facilities. But the cricket ground is only for the professionals and unversity team. It is tough to get a hostel as the number of seats are very less.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and friendly, believes in sharing knowledge. Class notes and pyqs are enough for getting good grades and you will definitely get time for developing skills. There a lot of Hackathons organized by different societies.
Other: I chose this college because of the location and the reputation it holds and the opportunities it provides. I just wish for better fest.

Satisfied as it is 3rd ranked university in all over india and 24th in engineering.
Placements: 90-95% of students got placed in our course with good packages and also off campus too. In our course, the top recruiters are Microsoft, Wipro, TCS, Optum and so on. Almost 90-95% of students got internships in their second and third years. As it is in Delhi, so it benefits students a lot.
Infrastructure: Jamia gives all the facilities, like having a lavish, green, big campus. It gives free wifi access to all the students and classrooms are also good for 2nd year onward; in the first-year classroom, the ac is not there but is also good for the students. Hostels are good and maintained; it also has a gym for the students so you can workout there also and food is also average—not so good, not too bad. Canteens are so good on campus; they offer very good food at a minimal price, especially the central canteen. Medical facilities are also free here in the Ansari health care centre maintained by Jamia, and Jamia has a big sports complex too.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and well qualified in the faculty of law and engineering; all the teachers have at least a PhD and 4-5 years of experience and some are also in the top 2% of scientists in the world. Jamia course curriculum is all from New Education policy introduced by the government. So it is relevant but not so industry material. Midterm exams are not so difficult; they can be qualified easily with a minimum 40% marks required. End semesters are a little bit difficult but with 2 weeks before exams, preparation will be enough to get good marks.
Other: I chose this course because I want to pursue my career in engineering, especially in artificial intelligence and machine learning and the best thing about this course is that it is the future of the world. There are many events organized by different societies within the campus and a festival also; there is no such campus crowd because campus is very big so there is no problem about it. The campus surrounding it is also good, as it is in the heart of Delhi ( south delhi) so it is beneficial for the students. There are so many extracurricular activities, like you can participate in sports, as Jamaica has a big sports complex in which both indoor and outdoor games are played and it also has a very big and fully maintained cricket ground, or you can also join different societies and clubs according to your interest and gain some practical knowledge and so on.

    Dissatisfied with placements.
Placements: Placement in our college is pretty good when compared to other government colleges. Sixty percent of students were placed from my department of computer engineering. There are many reputed recruiting companies in our college like Siemens, TCS, Oracle, etc. Nearly forty percent of students got internships in companies like Accenture and EXL. Roles offered in my course mainly comprise Junior Software Engineer and Software Analyst.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities are pretty good when compared to the fee structure, which includes smart classrooms, an Apple lab, a design lab, a common room, Wi-Fi, a library, and affordable canteen food. Hostels are limited compared to the student strength, but the food and facilities are good.
Faculty: I think my faculty is supportive and has decent qualifications. They solve our problems. Most of the course curriculum is relevant in our department, which prepares us for jobs. Semester exams are pretty good, not too tough; some can easily pass the exams.
Other: My course is in high demand in the field of engineering and automation, has a lot of value in companies, and the packages are decent when compared to other courses.
