Review of Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College and Hospital.
Placements: The college is a medical college, so there is no concept of placement. Some people who complete their MBBS course from here prefer to give NEET PG or transfer to the Middle East for good opportunities. Kerala itself has low employment if you are just an MBBS student. No companies are coming for placement. Students have to do a permanent 1-year internship where they help and learn more about the practical knowledge of a doctor.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are quite big. It's an old college established in 2002, so the classrooms are like those of a government college. A smart board is there for lectures, with no Wi-Fi facility available in class. The library is quite big, and all the skill labs and subject labs are properly maintained. The quality of the hostel is bad. There is no choice, you must take triple occupancy as there is not enough space, especially in the girls' hostel. There is no canteen in the hostel, and the mess of the college is the worst; the food is not even good, hygienic, and they charge too much for it.
Faculty: As this is a medical college, you will feel the stress, assignments, and exam pressure from faculty members. Teachers are knowledgeable and have good teaching quality. The course is curriculum-relevant and makes the students ready for real-life challenges. Semester exams are tough to pass. In fact, Kerala University of Health Sciences is among the toughest universities to pass. The pass percentage is generally above 80%. Teachers help you a lot.
Other: I chose this course to become a doctor and be socially well-recognized. People look up to you. The stress should have been less in my course, that is one thing I want to change. There are no events or fests, a high campus crowd, and calm surroundings. Welcome to the Jail and Concentration Camps. You cannot leave the hostel without loads of permission signs.

Placements: My college has 175 seats for MBBS and not only MBBS here we offer BDS and pharmacy and medical allied courses. The tuition fee is much less around Rs. 25,000 for 1 semester. There is another miscellaneous fee. We have a year internship after 4th year of very high-quality education.
Infrastructure: There are two ladies' hostels, one men's hostel, two houses, and quarters. There are a lot of facilities provided in the hostels like Wi-Fi, cooler, and other playgrounds. There are different sections for mess. There are different halls, study halls, and a play area. The terrace is vast. We have a canteen and a central library.
Faculty: Our teachers are the best. They communicate with the students very well. They help us with the education. They help us understand a lot during the exam. The college is very competitive and brings up very good doctors. Exams are moderate. We have to work a lot and study hard to achieve good in exams. The pass percentage is 50%.

A good college which offers good academics.
Placements: Our college recruits around 100 students every year. Now it has been changed to around 150 students. You can be exempted from tuition fees if you are coming from a minority category. For merit students, maybe around 8 Lacs. The highest fees will be charged from NRIs. Everyone students can do the mandatory internship after they have cleared all subjects of every year.
Infrastructure: There are separate for each year. Wi-Fi and library facilities are also available on the campus. Mess is located within the campus premises. Canteen facilities are also available. Nonveg food is provided once daily. Mess food is good as they are provided by the top caterers of the town.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified as well as very helpful. All of them hold degrees from reputed colleges. One of our HODs is the author of a popular-selling textbook. The course curriculum is according to NMC. Semester exams are always by the university pattern.
Other: Scholarships are available to those who get their seats through merit quota. The main events in the college are arts, sports, graduation, and other festivals.

Good opportunities in the medical field.
Placements: Our college does not offer placements in engineering or management fields. Everyone has to do a mandatory internship for 1 year which is provided. Being a medical college, the concept of placement is not there. We have to write exams for future studies. Otherwise, we can opt for various job opportunities.
Infrastructure: The college campus is amazing with air-conditioned classrooms, smart boards, and seating capacity for 250 students with mics and proper visibility even from the back. Classrooms are available for all departments. Wi-Fi is also there for students. There is a well-maintained library and a reading room for UGs and PGs. Hostel facilities are poor.
Faculty: There are highly educated professors with years of experience. The CBME curriculum is followed. Exams are of moderate to tough level. University exams have a high pass percentage. The current curriculum opts for practical learning with interactive discussions and seminars.

Proud to be a student of one of the best medical colleges in Kerala.
Placements: There are 175 students in our batch. Many of them come from various states and districts. Students can get admission after scoring at least 660 marks and applying via either through All India Quota or State Quota. Students can also get admission through other quotas as well like NCC, sports, etc.
Infrastructure: Library has become more advanced than before with tables available for studying, more reference books, Wi-Fi, and a quiet environment for studying. There are a variety of sports and other extracurricular activities, where the students can engage in games like cricket, football, etc. Hostel mess is pretty average with a fee of Rs. 140/- per day, and there is free Wi-Fi. Hostel architecture is a bit concern, but it has good parking spots for cars or bikes. Labs are quite average, but quite good. There are few canteens scattered around the college continuing refreshments and other food items.
Faculty: Teachers are excellent especially in PGs, who make sure our doubts are cleared. Professors are experienced and better trained who guide us with their enriched wisdom. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes students industry-ready.
Other: There are a lot of programs and parties conducted by student union on various events.
