UPES MDes Eligibility & Highlights 2024

UPES Dehradun offers an MDes programme of a two-year duration. There are five specialisations in this programme and each specialisation has a seat intake of 10 students. Candidates must satisfy the below-mentioned eligibility criteria and qualify for UPESDAT in order to secure admission to the course.

Eligibility criteria:
- Class 10 and Class 12 from a recognised with a minimum of 50% aggregate AND
- BTech/ BE in any relevant stream/ BArch/ BFA/ Interior Design/ BDes/ BVA OR
- Three-year BSc/ BA/ BFA/ BVA degree in Applied Arts/ Design with a minimum of 50% aggregate along with one year of relevant industry experience OR
- Two-year MSc/ MTech or equivalent degree in Computer Science/ CSE/ IT

Overall, our college is very good. Its location is very good, so you will have some great memories.

Placements: In our course, the academic percentage doesn't matter to get placements as it all depends on your work. If you perform great, you will surely get a good placement. In the current year, the highest salary package offered was 7.5 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are TCS, L&T, Infosys, etc. About 80% of the students got internships in various industries like software-based companies as well as product-based companies.

Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are very good and improving in our college. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and there is a huge library with E-library facilities. The location of our college is awesome. There is a 24x7 ambulance service, and a doctor is also available. Our college has a huge ground for games, and there are a food court and 2-3 canteens.

Faculty: Faculty members here are always ready to help you in any manner. They are very qualified as well as knowledgeable, especially in design. Sometimes, they use industrial techniques to teach us. You can ask the questions and get information from faculty members of other branches also. They don't provide any course curriculum.

Other: I am very interested in sketching and designing, so I have chosen this course. The best thing about our course is you have the freedom to convert things whatever you imagine into reality. I wish that our college should increase the number of visiting faculty members, especially for our course and also there should not be a dress code. Our college organises great fest every year. Campus surroundings are very beautiful, and you will find nature around you.

It is a good college and has value for money.

Placements: Almost 96% of the students got placed from college. The salary package offered ranges from 7 LPA - 8 LPA. The highest salary package offered was 13 LPA. Rest depends on your skill and ability. Almost everyone gets internships in companies completely depends upon your capability and skill. In both cases, your portfolio has more weightage than your marks.

Infrastructure: The college is situated between the valley of mountains of Uttarakhand, in the forest, so you can imagine the beauty of the college. It has one of the best infrastructures in India. For our department, we have 2 Cintiq lab having almost 25-30 Cintiq in each lab, 1 Mac computer lab, and 2 Windows computer lab each having almost 25-30 computers. We also have a wood workshop, a ceramic workshop, and a clay workshop. Besides this, the campus has 3 food courts and the biggest food court is on 3rd floor. The library on the campus is of 3 floors. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. We also have medical facilities, a gym area, and a playground.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college have minimum 4-5 years of industrial experience. They have very good knowledge of their respective subject, so they guide us according to the industry needs. The course curriculum is according to the industry needs, also it revises whenever required.
