The selection criteria for the MSc programme at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU) Jaunpur is a multi-step process. First of all, the candidate has to qualify in the entrance examination. Applicants need a minimum of 50% aggregate in the undergraduate degree from a recognised university in relevant subjects. Shortlisted candidates are then involved in the next selection round conducted by the committee. The final selection is made when the candidates submit the applicable admission fee.

Students from the Backward Caste, General, and Minority categories whose parents/guardians have a total income not more than INR 2 lakh, as well as SC/ST category students whose income does not exceed INR 2.5 lakh, may apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship. The university's scholarship scheme also covers Kargil Martyrs' and victims of natural calamities, such as tsunamis. The Purvanchal University Combined Admission Test (PUCAT) is conducted by the Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in order to offer students admission in various postgraduate courses. The exam is conducted annually and it is through qualifying PUCAT, that candidates are granted admission to the varsity. Through PUCAT, candidates can get admission in MBA, MA and MSc courses. The mode of the exam is offline and the medium of the entrance exam is English.

The VBSPU the highest package has not been released. However, the course-wise median package is out. VBSPU Jaunpur is a public state university that is a residential-cum-affiliating in nature. Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University is recognised by the University Grants Commission. It was established in 1987 and through its affiliated colleges, offers UG, PG, Ph.D. PG Diploma and integrated courses to students. Formerly known as the Purvanchal Institution in Jaunpur, the institution currently goes by the name Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, a former chief minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh. After considering all the specialisations, around 50%-70% of seats are allocated to the candidates who qualify the accepted entrances such as PUCAT, and JEE Main. For UG and PG courses, the CUET exam scores are taken into consideration for admission to fill 50% of seats. For courses such as BTech, JEE Main’s scores are considered to allocate 70% of seats, and the remaining 30% are allocated via the PUCAT exam. Some courses such as BCA and diplomas require the PUCAT exam after the qualification of 10+2.
