I think VIT Vellore is better than SRM Chennai, from SRM University it is now SRM institute of Science and technology because of no Research infrastructure. But yes SRM provides good sort of Placements. There are three campuses of SRM in Chennai area Kattankulathur, Vadapalani, Ramapuram.

CSE bioinformatics is the best branch in VIT, if you ask for my personal opinion because of the following reasons: There'll be a very small number of students in the branch, around 100. All the subjects are the same as the CS branch, except 45. And those also don't make much of a difference. Because even the CSE students don't know what these subjects are for. CSE with bioinfo will have 56 bio subjects. And those are also very easy. If you've never studied bio before, don't worry you'll easily score good marks in them. Moreover, Bio faculty members for our branch are very lenient, helpful, and awesome. The best thing is even with fewer pointers you'll get preferred hostel rooms very easily whether it be a boy or girl.

I would suggest LPU to pursue B.Tech Biotechnology due to standard education provided and intense curriculum and career enhancement approach. This programme at LPU articulates the concepts from basic Science to technology with relevant practice through lab and projects pertaining to biotechnology for building the problem solving skills, keeping industry requirements in place. Hi, you have not mentioned the course you are looking for in VIT. The fee structure at VIT is as follows:
1. The fee for most B.Tech courses is Rs. 7.8 Lacs, whereas for biotechnology, EEE, and civil engineering, it is Rs. 6.92 Lacs.
2. The fee for the MBA course is Rs. 6.97 Lacs.
3. The fee for M.Tech courses ranges from Rs. 3 Lacs to Rs. 4.87 Lacs, based on branch.
4. The fee for the BCA course is Rs. 1.65 Lacs.
