Preparation Strategy to Clear CSEET in First Attempt

Having a structured plan is the first step in walking towards clearing CSEET in first attempt. CS aspirants preparing for the upcoming CSEET session can follow below tips and tricks below to clear this exam and be eligible to register for CS executive exam.

1. Know the CSEET Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has changed the syllabus and exam pattern for CSEET exam. These changes are applicable from June 2026 session. Therefore, students must know the updated details. One of the major changes in CSEET pattern is the mode of examination. Until Jan 2026 exam, ICSI used to conduct the exam in remote proctored mode, which has now been changed to offline mode. Candidates will have to now take the exam from an exam centre. Now, candidates will have to practice from the exam based on new exam structure. Apart from exam mode, ICSI will now include Subjective and OMR based questions in the paper, and the exam duration, total marks, pre-examination requirement, etc., have also been modified.

2. Prepare a Study Plan

After understanding the syllabus and pattern, prepare a time table according to time left for exam day. Divide the entire syllabus and make sure not to overburden yourself on one day and not study on another. Create a balance and study one theoretical and one practical subject daily. Create a checklist for daily, weekly and monthly report to help track your preparation level. If at any point of preparation, you think the current plan is lacking and isn't working, take help from your peers, guides, teachers, etc.

3. Start Studying and Focus on Understanding Concepts

Once you have prepared the timetable, start with your studies. Now the question arises, is it compulsory to take coaching to clear CSEET exam. The answer is NO. Many students clear this entrance examination without through self-study only. However, for this, candidates must be strongly determined, deeply focused, and away from distractions. While studying topics, do not cram definitions, laws, facts, etc., and try to understand the logic behind a concept. It will help you retain the information for much longer. For preparation, make sure to select the right CSEET book. ICSI also releases study material for every session. Use those study materials as it is the most reliable study source.

4. Create a Formula Sheet

Make a separate notebook, write all formulas in it, and revise them daily. The CSEET question paper includes problems from Business Communication, Fundamentals of Accounting, Economic and Business Environment, and Business Law and Management. With the formula sheet, you can revise all important facts, laws, acts, rules and formulas regularly and on exam day.

5. Sart Practicing Questions

Once you have completed 60% of your syllabus, start practicing application-based questions everyday to increase your speed and accuracy. Students usually know the formula and steps to use it to calculate the answer, but don't have enough time to solve it. Therefore, it is important to work on your time management skills.

6. Practice CSEET Mock Test

Solving mock tests can give you a sense of the question paper structure and preparation level. It gives you a reality check on where you stand as per preparation. ICSI also conducts CSEET mock tests for registered candidates. The direct link to take the mock exam is released on the official website. Apart from mock tests, solve CSEET previous year question papers to get a hang of the exam structure.
