Candidates willing to get admission to PhD at Pune University must have the following eligibility qualifications:
- Master's degree or a professional degree equivalent to the master’s with at least 55% aggregate
- Candidates who have cleared the MPhil course work with at least 55% aggregate in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale
Pune University PhD admission is subject to an entrance exam conducted by SPPU, i.e. PhD Entrance Test (PET). However, those who have qualified in UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from the university-conducted entrance exam.
