Pune University PhD Admission 2022: Eligibility and Selection
Candidates willing to get admission to PhD at Pune University must have the following eligibility qualifications:
- Master's degree or a professional degree equivalent to the master’s with at least 55% aggregate
- Candidates who have cleared the MPhil course work with at least 55% aggregate in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale
Pune University PhD admission is subject to an entrance exam conducted by SPPU, i.e. PhD Entrance Test (PET). However, those who have qualified in UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from the university-conducted entrance exam.
The University admits candidates via a two stage process (for those willing to secure admission via PET):
Stage 1: PET
The entrance test is of 100 marks (consisting of 100 MCQs of one mark each) with 50% aggregate as qualifying marks. The test contains the following type of questions:
- 50%: Based on research methodology
- 50%: Subject specific
The test is conducted at the centre(s) to be notified in advance. Changes of centres, if any, is also notified to students advance.
Stage 2: Interview
During this round, candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Department Research Committee.

Pune University PhD Application Process 2022
Candidates seeking admission to Pune University PhD 2021 can apply online on the official website http://bcud.unipune.ac.in/phd_entrance/applicant/login.aspx and submit their application forms online. There is no requirement to submit the required documents or application form offline. Mentioned below is a step by step process for Pune University PhD application process 2021
Step 1: Visit the official website of the university http://www.unipune.ac.in/ and click on ‘PhD Admission Process 2022’.
Step 2: Candidates are redirected to http://bcud.unipune.ac.in/phd_entrance/applicant/login.aspx which is the PhD admission portal of SPPU.
Step 3: Register by filling out all the details as asked.
Step 4: After successful registration, login using the registration credentials, fill up the form with all the mandatory details and submit it.

- Photocopy of the medical certificate issued by a civil surgeon in case of PwD category
