Berhampur University appoints Geetanjali Dashi as new VC
Geetanjali Dash has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University. Odisha governor and chancellor of Universities, Ganeshi Lal appointed her for a period of four years. Dash is a retired professor of political science at Fakir Mohan University Balasore and holds more than 36 years of teaching experience.
Dash has authored five books and guided four PhD and 35 MPhil scholars. “My priority is to face the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team, who will come to the campus very soon. The university has NAAC A grade. We will try to retain the grade or improve it to A+ grade,” said Dash.
Dash further said that the affiliated colleges under Berhampur University are not accredited.
“I will try to work in this field and mentor the colleges to get them accreditation. Orientation programmes will be conducted for colleges to prepare them for this challenge. Accredited colleges will get funding from the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme, grants from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other agencies,” she added.

The new Vice-Chancellor said that she will focus on the holistic development of students. Apart from education, curricular, extracurricular and co-curricular activities, soft skills, physical fitness, placement cell and other activities will be worked on the campus. Seed funding will be given to the young faculty members, she added.
Meanwhile, the higher education department is now inviting applications for the post of Vice-Chancellor Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri. Interested candidates can apply on or before May 31.
