COVID Surge: Colleges, Universities in UP closed until January 16, Exams to be held as per schedule

The University of Lucknow has also announced that the physical classes at the university and its affiliated colleges will remain shut until January 16. The decision to shut physical classes was announced in line with the government order.
Amid the rise in COVID positive cases in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that all colleges, Universities in the state will remain closed until January 16, 2022. On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh reported 7,695 fresh positive cases. The biggest figures came from state capital Lucknow (1,115 ) and Noida (1,149). Meanwhile, the University of Lucknow has also announced that the physical classes at the university and its affiliated colleges will remain shut until January 16. The decision to shut physical classes was announced in line with the government order.
While the Universities, Colleges have been asked the remain shut, the government has also directed all these educational institutions can conduct exams as scheduled. UP government has strictly mentioned that all these higher educational institutions, colleges and universities are to get back to online classes. No offline classes will be held until the mentioned date. Earlier, the schools in the state were shut to ensure the safety of students and all stakeholders.
Lucknow University Management Entrance Test (LUMET) is a pen and paper based entrance examination. The duration of this test is 90 minutes. Candidates have to solve 100 MCQs within the given time period. LUMET includes questions related to Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Comprehension and General Awareness. Moreover, each question carries 2 marks. Aspirants must meet the merit based eligibility criteria to secure admission to BTech programme at University of Lucknow. Apart from that, aspirants must qualify the necessary entrance exam to secure the final admission. Asiprants must have passed Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 55% to be eligible for admission. In addition, student should have passed the qualifying examination from a recognised board. Candidate must also hold the Class 12 mark sheet during application form filling and at the time of admission for verification purposes.
The University of Lucknow in its official notification stated that the teaching-learning activities will continue online. "Though the university campus and affiliated colleges will be closed till January 16, exams scheduled for these days will continue as usual," the university said in a statement.
The varsity has also directed all the students, teaching and non-teaching staff to adhere to COVID-19 SOPs and health and safety guidelines during this period. The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier this week ordered the closure of schools for students of Classes 1 to 12 up to January 16. For children in Anganwadis, the government said although the classes have been discontinued, the distribution of food and rations will continue.
Schools can continue online classes for their students, the government said. Schools will organise vaccination camps for students between 15 and 18 age groups. Students will be allowed to visit their schools to get vaccinated against Covid, it added.
Candidates seeking admission to the University of Lucknow BCA course must visit the official website of the University to apply online. To be eligible for Lucknow University BCA admission, candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Mathematics/Computer as one of the subjects with at least 50% marks for General / OBC (45% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) based on the total marks of all subjects.
Lucknow University offers a three-year full-time BBA programme via the Institute of Management Sciences, LU. The University offers a BBA course covering three specialisations, including International Business, Management Sciences and Tourism. The Lucknow University Management Entrance Test (LUMET) will comprise of 100 objective-type questions to be answered in 90 minutes consisting of General Awareness, English Verbal Ability and Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. While speaking to media, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked the public not to panic. “Alertness and caution are needed. People should be encouraged to wear masks, take vaccines and practice social distancing. This is the best first aid measure," he said.
