Entrance Exams at JNU

The entrance exams are the most important step in the admission process and will decide your future. Jawaharlal Nehru University conducts three rounds of tests every year.

1. The first round is called the Common Entrance Test (CET), which is conducted by various government and private schools across the country. There are two levels of this test: one for admissions to a bachelor's program and another for a master's program.

2. The second round is called JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). This is a national-level entrance exam conducted by CBSE, which assesses candidates on their Mathematical and Reasoning skills, English language skills and IT knowledge.

3. The third and final round is called IAT (Indian Aptitude Test) and it is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University itself. It assesses students on their academic potential and questions are asked from different subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Statistics etc.

Interview Process at JNU

No. of Interview Rounds:

1. The first round is the screening round, followed by the PI round. In the screening round, candidates are screened by their statements and interviews with the faculty members. Candidates are given a chance to impress one faculty member each.

2. The second round is called the PI round, where all the candidates who have passed in the screening round are interviewed by their departmental heads and heads of other departments.

3. After the interview, you will be sent a letter of selection along with the PI letter and a copy of your academic record. If you are invited for an interview, it will be held at the JNU campus.

In total there are three rounds of interviews. The first round is the preliminary interview which is followed by two rounds. In each round, there are four students interviewed.

Strength of Students Participating in the Interview Process

Students are encouraged to participate in the interview process. Students are expected to prepare for the interview by reading the job description and the components of the position. Participating in this process is an opportunity for students to learn more about the work they will be doing and the responsibilities of a new position.

The interview process provides an opportunity for students to discuss their interest in the position, ask questions and give feedback on their experience with the University. Please note that this is a two-way communication process, so we encourage all applicants to engage in discussion throughout the interview.

Students should bring one copy of their resume and one copy of their transcript (unofficial or official) along with all other required documents.

Final Selection Process at JNU

JNU placement process is as follows -

1. Candidates are called for campus interviews

2. The candidates will be given a day and time to reach the venue of the campus interview

3. They have to present themselves in writing and speaking skills tests along with technical skills tests, yoga, computer and general knowledge etc.

4. The candidates will be given an opportunity to interact with professors, students, alumni and other JNU staff members during their campus tour

5. After completion of all these tests, they will be shortlisted based on their performance in written tests, personal interview and group discussions etc.,

6. Candidates will be called for final selection based on their performance in all rounds of selection process including general/ written tests, personal interviews, group discussions etc.

7. Final list of selected candidates will be prepared after all rounds of the selection process are taken into consideration.
