In a conversation with Shiksha.com, experts at ICFAI Tech School (ITS) talk in detail about flagship BTech programme and its admission process. For students planning to take admission in this institute, can also know more about the placements and internship trends to understand the return on investment (ROI). ICFAI Tech is an AICTE-approved institute and is affiliated to IFCE Deemed to be University.

Here is the edited excerpt of the conversation:

Q: What is the admission process to BTech programme at ICFAI Tech?

A: At ICFAI Tech, we offer admissions to students on the basis of JEE Main scores. We also take into consideration the Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) ranks for the admissions. Applicants who could not appear for Admission Test for ICFAI Tech (ATIT) 2020 can apply as soon as ICFAI Tech releases notification again. For that purpose, they can stay connected to the institute’s official website.

We do not have quota of any kind and offer admission to BTech programme completely on the basis of ATIT exam.

Q: What’s the cost of the programme? Also, is there any refund option available to students who wish to withdraw admission?

A: The tuition fee for the course is Rs 1.25 lakh per semester. There is an additional fee of Rs 20,000 to be deposited at the time of admissions as ‘Admission Fee’ and Rs 10,000 as ‘Caution Deposit’, which is completely refundable at the end of the programme.

In case a student plans to withdraw their admission, we provide refund based on the guidelines set by the University Grants Commission.

Q: Do you also offer scholarships to students?

A: At ICFAI we understand the importance of education and that financial issues should not be the reason to be not able to pursue quality education. Hence, we do offer scholarships to students on the basis of performance in ATIT 2020 and can also be availed in the subsequent semesters based on CGPA. Below are various categories of scholarships offered:

Q: Do you offer internships opportunities to students?

A: Internship is a mandatory part of the curriculum at ICFAI. We provide equal opportunities to all the students. We also appreciate students’ selection of the company to pursue an internship on their own provided the company meets our necessary requirements. Mostly all the internship opportunities facilitated by the School are stipend-based, which gives extra motivation to students to perform dedicatedly. The outperformers also get the opportunity to secure pre-placement offers from the corporates.

Q: Can you also share some placements trends?

A: We have a dedicated in-house placement cell that focuses on quality placements for students. We have almost all giants in the industry and big corporates participating actively in the placement season. This includes Accenture, ADP, Amazon, Genpact, Global Logic, HCL, Hettich India, HSBC, IBM, IGATE, Ikya, Indian Navy, Kelly Services, Mahindra And Mahindra, MAQ Software, Mastech, Mindfire, Moldtek, NTT Data, Sonata Software and Toshiba.

All the companies have generally their own placement process and selection criteria which include an aptitude test, technical interview and HR round. Some companies also conduct Group Discussion (GD) rounds.

On the basis of the performance of a few students in internships, some of the companies take them into full-time employment directly.

Q: Is your Institute AICTE-approved?

The ICFAI Foundation of Higher Education (IFHE) is Deemed to be University (under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956) established in the year 2008 in Telangana state. IFHE is accredited with NAAC A+ Grade (with a score of 3.43 out of  4.0) and Icfai Tech is AICTE-recognised.

ICFAITech is a constituent body of IFHE since 2010 and provides quality education in the field of Science & Technology.

Q: Can you share something about faculty and faculty-students ratio?

A: Faculty plays an important role in the delivery of the content. We aim to impart quality education and hence, we have all experienced faculty members with PhD degrees from reputed institutions. Few of them are also  MTech from NIT and IIT and are pursuing PhD programmes.

Some of the members also carry a significant amount of experience. We have a faculty-student ratio of 1:13.
