HITS Chennai students felicited with Design Execellence Award at International VEX Robotic Competition

Students of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), Chennai were recently awarded a Design Excellence Award at the VEX Robotics Competition for developing a VEX mobile robot. The event was organised by the Mechatronics and Robotics Society of Philippines (MRSP) in association with the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) at Manila on September 26-27.

B.Tech. Mechatronics Engineering students Lena Sekar, Gian Carlo, Haran Pragadeesh, Mukesh Sriram, students of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS, Chennai were recently awarded a Design Excellence Award at the VEX Robotics Competition for developing a VEX mobile robot. The event was organised by the Mechatronics and Robotics Society of Philippines (MRSP) in association with the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) at Manila on September 26-27.

Over 15 teams participated across Asia Pacific and Philippines in this robotic competition among which HITS Team was awarded for their unique and innovative design approach of robots and autonomous navigation capabilities. Eminent personalities such as Secretary General of AUAP Dr Ricardo P Pama; Joven, Chairman, MRSP Philip Marvin D; and President, Innovation First International (VEX Robotics) Andy Lee were also invited for the award ceremony.

The team lead Lena Sekar, said, “The problem statement and the design of autonomous mode of mobile robot of the competition were really challenging and provided a wonderful learning experience”. The project was funded by the management of HITS. The University is a core member of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP).
