SRM Chancellor releases books on Waste Management

Founder Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) Dr T R Paarivendhar launched books on Waste Management at the institute’s Kattankulathur campus recently. This was the first official launch of the books that comprise five parts, and is an aggregation of efforts made by various people on waste management.

This was the first official launch of the books that comprise five parts and is an aggregation of efforts made by various people on waste management.

SRMIST is also planning to introduce a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree in Waste Management and Social Entrepreneurship. The curriculum and syllabus for the course will soon be announced. The MBA in Waste Management will be an All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)-approved syllabus and will be multidisciplinary. “This is a relatively new field and there are over 17,000 job openings in the senior and management level in waste management,” SRMIST Director (Management) Dr Michael J Barnes said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Paarivendhar said, “Our prime minister and the present government is intense about the administration of waste. When we waste material then we should take the agony of overseeing it. We ought to be cognizant about our demonstrations and it should be instructed to other people. We are presently in a circumstance where we need to educate the youth on waste segregation and management”

The event was also attended by eminent personalities, including SRMIST Vice-Chancellor Dr Sandeep Sancheti, Registrar Dr N Sethuraman, Director (Management) Dr Michael J Barnes, Joint Director (Research) Dr SRS Prabhakaran and other faculty members of the institute.
