The mode of SRM University course admissions is primarily online. Admission to the courses is done based on merit and entrance exam scores. For the BTech course admission, SRM Institute Chennai conducts the SRMJEEE UG exam, whereas, for admission to its MBA programme, the university conducts the SRMJEEM exam. SRM Kattankulathur also accepts many state and national-level entrance exams such as CAT, TANCET, and MAT, for MBA admissions. Candidates willing to get admission to the SRMIST MTech programme must appear for the SRMJEEE PG exam.

To apply for SRM University Chennai admissions, candidates must first visit the official website of the university (srmist edu in), then select a course and pay the application fee. QS World University Rankings 2026 have been released. According to the same, SRMIST ranks within 1001-1200 under the category "World University". Over the past few years, the SRM Kattankulathur has been ranked under multiple streams namely Management, Computer Application, Engineering, and others.
